    Matt Burgans phantom draft

    It's here

If this really happened I would kiss Dalrymple especially with the first 3 picks. I hope we take a tall defender late though

I’d be happy with a Moore/Griffiths double (though a Jetta/Griffiths combo would be perfect). A pacy line breaker and a tall defender would round out the draft nicely.
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

True but I'm happy to settle with 2nd best. I can't see Jetta slipping

An overview of Burgatron's Bulldogs picks:

        15 - WESTERN BULLDOGS - Andrew Moore
        DOB: 30/05/91, Height: 188cm, Weight: 81kg
Recruited from: Yarra Valley Grammar/Eastern Ranges (VIC)
        Draft range: 10-17

Expect the Dogs to nab the younger brother of Richmond's Kelvin at pick 15. Moore has been compared to Swan Ryan O'Keefe and his ability to play midfield, forward and back offers the Dogs great flexibility. He has also been compared to rising Crow Andy Otten. Moore topped the running vertical jump test at draft camp with 85cm. If Lewis Jetta falls to the Dogs, he will not slip past No.15, while Jasper McMillan-Pittard is next in line.

        31 - WESTERN BULLDOGS - Ben Griffiths
        DOB: 17/09/91, Height: 199cm, Weight: 98kg
        Recruited from: Blackburn/Eastern Ranges (VIC)
        Draft range: 8-35

Exactly where Griffiths sits is dividing recruiters, due to his unfortunate run with injuries. What the big man has shown is tantalising. The Bulldogs are massive fans and will take Griffiths if available. Although the Dogs snapped up Barry Hall in the trade period, they will gladly put Griffiths in the bank as a long-term key forward option. He is a strong contested mark, quick for his size and a thumping kick. Jack Gunston, Josh Thomas, Ayden Kennedy and Troy Taylor are also known to be contenders at 31.

        63 - WESTERN BULLDOGS - Jason Tutt

        DOB: 15/05/91, Height: 177cm, Weight: 72kg
        Recruited from: Ainslie/NSW-ACT Rams (ACT)
        Draft range: 38-76

Tutt looks set to become just the second current AFL-listed player from Canberra, joining Swans co-captain Craig Bolton. The Dogs are definitely eyeing him off at this pick, as they believe his run and penetrating kicks out of defence can add to their group. Collingwood, the Sydney Swans and Carlton are possibilities to take Tutt, who can also be called on to use his blend of speed and endurance in the midfield.

        76 - WESTERN BULLDOGS - Justin Bollenhagen
        DOB: 17/12/91, Height: 183cm, Weight: 75kg
        Recruited from: Reynella/South Adelaide (SA)
        Draft range: 50-rookie

The Bulldogs will use their fourth and final 'live' pick in the draft, with Bollenhagen a genuine late contender. The Dogs are fans of his outstanding skills and beautiful, long left-foot kick. A wingman/half-back, Bollenhagen will also be looked at by Collingwood late. Melbourne may even swoop at selection 50. Calder Cannons key forward Serhat Temel is also a chance to go here.
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

Aren't we doing that already with the promotion of Mulligan off the rookie list?

Here's some happy snaps of Christian Howard, reading above we are interested in him.

(NB the tackle was paid as a free against, too high)

Possibly - we did speak to Sean Tighe though and have been linked to Sam Reid so we can't discount the possibility of drafting another.

I haven't seen Mulligan in action but being in Willy two's for two years doesn't bring me much confidence. I know he's had a few unlucky patches with injuries and so forth but I still thought he would have got a run in the seniors by now.

Does anyone else think that Koby Stevens will be the slider?

It seems that whoever slides from Jetta, Moore or Mcmillan-Pittard will become our first selection. I'd be content with any of the three though my preference would be Jetta, Mcmillan-Pittard then Moore.

I predicted it in my phantom draft but everyone got up me.

This just from the chat with Matt Burgan

                      Matt Burgan:
Hi Dale, I believe the Dogs have strong interest in Tutt and Bollenhagen. Temel at the Dogs was the strongest club aligned that I heard, but I understand Tutt and Bollenhagen are priorites late for the Dogs.

Christensen and Crichton both near #40 is a bit surprising, and I must say so is Gavin Roberts not being named (excuse my Norwood bias) - but I'd prefer Roberts as a run and carry option with good-great disposal rather than Bollenhagen.

Perhaps Roberts OP battles have turned a few people off.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

Christensen was in terrible shape at the draft camp (most skin folds of any attendees). I got shouted down on BigFooty during the year when I suggested that he was carrying too much pudding – now it seems that his weight issues are going to cause him to slide.

He’s talented, no doubt about it, but so was Dean Rioli.

Depending on his professionalism if he's struggling to keep the weight off now it's only going to get harder down the track.

I am assuming however that he just likes maccas too much at the moment and needs a be smart.

I'm going to raise the Majak Daw issue again.

I see Matt Burgin has him going to North.

I'd hate to see him go to North for a variety of reasons, and not just his potential as a footballer.

It's certainly a hot topic, do we pick this guy on based on his ability?, or does his background raise his importance to a club like ours?

Or do we simply pick the best available or required?
