Aah, yes, I should have known that he wouldn't have a clue who Cordy is or what number he wears. You are correct, it was No. 24 he was raving about - and okay, I'll fall for it, who wears 24? I'm having a brain fade

Thanks for that - I did go and check the WB website, and it listed Grant's number as 1 so that's what confused me. (I assume you meant Jarrad Grant?)

Was most pleased with Grant. The three clunk type grabs he took, and the conversions was something i don't think we've seen since he came to the club. Hopefully he watches a replay of the way he attacked the ball and takes that into future games because it left me with a big smile. It's only a matter of time for Roughy. He kept trying all day and his ruckwork improves everytime i see it.

I took what others had said regarding Markovic with an open mind as i hadn't seen him play before. Someone said earlier that he looked like Skipper when he ran. Very accurate assessment. He's got that plod - those concrete calves that struggle to get off the ground

They'll be plenty of changes this week with reserves coming in to replace injured and promoted Willy seniors due to Bulldogs injuries. Great wrap of the early game Comrade.

I loved Grant coming from 4th in line to grab one but the 3rd contested mark (in the last quarter) was the most impressive IMO.

On the lead and the ball sat on top of him a bit - with the defender right with him and able to get a good punch at the ball - yet he still managed to hang on. This kid has really good hands, he just has to get to the right spots so he can get the opportunity to get his hands on the ball more often.

Could this be a result of senior Grant helping at the dogs, is Chris mentoring Jarrad?

Of course he would be and having Hall would help. The boot camp article gave me a smile also, seemed like it helped all the boys out a bit.

So then he is more than a one trick pony? Sticky hands and very good pace on a lead which should enable him to get to the right spots. His pack mark from 4th in line as you mentioned is another.

Tte other thing that stood out for me was that it was a v.good standard VFL game - physical, contested against strong enough opposition.

I wouldn't over analyse any negativity about Gotch, however, it was clearly time for a change and I think its good they have a coach of Germans experience who is prepared to challenge the players, and seems to be trying to instill an improved defensive work rate. Faulks looks a good defender at VFL level, with perhaps the potential to play AFL.

Eagle provided great leadership, particularly in the centre bounce setups, didn't always use the ball well into forward 50, particularly when going short, but I expect him to play this week. Roughead, Grant and Jones all looked the terrific prospects that they are and Cordy did enough to show he's got plenty of talent and is developing. Addison confirmed to me that he has improved a fair bit, and Wood is a real go-er. Stack flashes in and out, didn't get a lot of ball directed to him, and they have a lot of options to kick to in that forward line. Hooper is also a go-er and it will be interesting to see how he develops over the course of the season.

For the Grant watchers - is it possible he could force Hill out of the side as the year progresses? They both seem to play the deep forward marking role, with Hill playing 2nd banana to Hall in the seniors. Is this a role Grant could play?

His pace wasn't that good on the lead, the defender was right on him

It will be interesting to see who will be Willy's second ruckman this week. Any ideas?

Does anyone know if there is any coverage of the game against Gold Coast this week?
