Yep. I think it was you that made the point about that having a flow on effect on Griff and Cooney as they won't have to do so much of the grunt work and can be freed up to be more creative.Comment

Re: Rd 6 - Coburg vs Williamstown
We constantly hear from the media that having a key forward has stymied our attack, but I honestly think our midfield structure (and the loss of key personnel) has had more to do with our lack of scoring this year than our forward set up.Last edited by comrade; 15-05-2010, 11:03 PM.Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.Comment

So where are these boys at? I've read a couple of places that Picken is back and ready for this coming weekend... presume at Willi though.
Where's Ward? Thought he was still a month away from Willi.Comment

Picken was apparently running at training during the week but I'm not sure how far he is off playing. I have no news on WardWestern Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment

Thanks for the insights into the Willy seconds comrades
I'd be interested in whether there is a current AFL player comparison for Prato? I gather he is raw, and the comparison might not mean much, but just to get a feeling for what sort of player we might have on our hands.
Any word on Tiller in the 1's?
Callan didn't play again?Comment

Cheers Comrade, I really appreciate (and enjoyed reading) the snippits on Howie. I heard he was pretty sore after the game, was his first kick in anger since October.
Love the bit about the bullett passes!Comment

Re: Rd 6 - Coburg vs Williamstown
He's unlike any other ruckman I've seen in that he just doesn't move (or look) like a 200cm player. He's really a very tall midfielder, from an athletic perspective. Even when he plays an attacking role, it's as a lead up player, rather than the standard deep, 'stay at home' role that most ruckmen play when they float forward.
If I had to compare him to another ruckman playing in the AFL, it's probably Tippet, but that still doesn't really nail him.
It might sound odd, but he's like a tall (and much, much rawer) version of an Andrew Walker type.
His development will be fascinating; he's got a lot of learning to do in regards to his body work and timing, as well as building his tank, but the raw tools are there. Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.Comment

Would this be a fairer comparison in game style than Tippet?Comment

Re: Rd 6 - Coburg vs Williamstown
Good to hear, thanks comrade.Howard: The bolter finally runs out for his first game. My first impression was that he's bigger in the torso than I thought. He lined up on the half back line (against Robbie Hicks) and struggled to get near it for most of the first quarter. His first involvement was a clean scoop in congestion and a bullet left foot kick to a running team mate - nice! He didn't see a lot of action for the rest of the game - he's clearly short of a run and came on and off the bench throughout the game - but he took a nice mark and showed off his laser boot a few times. He was moved onto the ball in the last quarter and got his hands on it. Certainly not a great game by any stretch, but he showed enough to suggest he's a talent.
Surprised he lined up on Hicks though, he must be reasonably quick then?Comment
