An obvious strength of Howards is his kicking, who would it remind you of GVG? Is it in the Gilbee, Drummond mould of being able to boot the ball a mile accurately or is he more a Luke Hodge type kick?

      Seniors

12 Bulldog listed players for Williamstown today.

Everitt - Played as the Centre Half Forward and kicked the first goal. He got 2 for the day.
I liked his mobility and effort and whilst he wasn't one of the better players he did more than OK.

Tiller - Played as the CHB and moved very well but his skills and decision making was a bit questionable. Seems to have modified his kicking style a bit as well. Some nice marking in the 3rd quarter was a feature.

Boumann - Played as the tall BP and is still employing his short lateral kicking rather than being direct. He is also not backing himself sufficiently in marking contests.
Got reported but would be very stiff to be given a weeks holiday.

      Reid
      - Played as a midfielder and worked and tackled hard but still appears to be a little short of a gallop. I think he mouthed off at the umpire and it cost us a 50mtr penalty and a goal. Decent game.

Callan - Had a very good game as a defender and was one of the players that kept taking on the opposition and really driving the ball forward. Took a few nice marks and held a ripper in the 2nd quarter. One of the best players on the day.

Hooper - Very busy small forward who displayed some good defensive skills. Uses the ball well and holds his marks.

Daniels - Started on the bench before being used as a small forward with the occasional run in the midfield. Kicked a couple of goals and one of them in the first quarter was a ripper.
      Played well without starring.

      Jones
      - Held a tonne of marks as the CHF although most of them were well up the ground and a long way from the goals. His kicking wasn't great but his marking was a real feature. One of the best today.

Rose - Started as a small forward but he did spend a lot of time on the ball as well. Kicked a couple of goals including a brilliant one from an angle but wasn't prominent.

Mulligan - Played as the FB and whilst hge didn't get much of the ball he did beat his opponent.

Wood - Played as the BP and had a good game. His run and carries up the field were particularly eye catching but on occasions he did take a step to close to an opponent and then had a pressured kick. I'm still not a fan of him taking in the kick in duties but he was one of the best today.

Roughead - Tireless effort of rucking but probably never held enough marks.

I'll try and answer any questions.

Good work GVG, a great write up and for the record Panos ended up with 7 last quarter goals. He certainly cashed in on the good work of others as well as exposing the poor opposition but you are right in saying he was a product of his surrounding and not necessarily dominate as could be misinterpreted by merely checking the match summary.

Also, it is quite encouraging to see Prato developing nicely & putting together some solid games, hopefully he can continue to develop in an upward trend.

Hard to say. It's a fairly unique kick but I'd like to wait until I'm sure he's fit to really give a good opinion on who his style is like. Perhaps Luke Power but his midfield kicking is normally under a bit more pressure than what CH was under today.

Anyone capable of filling in for Lake down back so he can play forward GVGjr?

Against Brown and Fevola I'd say not.

I must has missed a goal in the last quarter with Panos but I guess a lot of people will check the scoreboard and assume it was a great game when in fact it was more of a sensational last quarter against a side that had shut up shop.

How did you rate Howard and Tutt?

Great to hear, seems like he is progressing well.

                      .

No, Hooper isn't the small forward we are crying out for. He is a good nuggety VFL battler at best.

Hooper and Markovic make me question Dalrymple as the head recruiter.

GVG, would you promote Rose or Hooper and give them a go for the WB?
If you kicked five goals and Tom Boyd kicked five goals, Tom Boyd kicked more goals than you.

No. There isn't a spot for them

                            Great stuff GVGjr

Good to see Ward, Prato and Tutt do well in the reserves, but obviously in such a lopsided performance probably hard to draw too many definitive conclusions. I've got high hopes for Tutt and am pleased he seems to be building fitness and improving his performances.

Whilst he is small do you think there is a future for him as a ball carrying midfielder? Does his pace and kicking skills standout in the reserves?

His size will limit the positions he can play but he does seem to be getting better. Could very well be able to play that role.
