BRAD Johnson has made a successful comeback to competitive football.

In near-freezing conditions at Eureka Stadium in Ballarat, Johnson lined up for the Western Bulldogs' VFL side Williamstown this afternoon.

In his first game back after a long-term achilles injury, the Bulldogs skipper's match was considered a success after he managed 36 minutes of game time in the first half against North Ballarat.
