    Reserves

Jamason Daniels - Played in the midfield and had a very good 4 quarter game largely because of his work ethic and attack on the ball. His opponent in the first quarter was being quite damaging however, Daniels displayed some footy smarts by manning up on his left side at stoppages so that his opponent couldn't swing around on his preferred left side. This curbed his influence on the game immediately and Daniels started racking up possessions and the tempo of the game changed straight away.

Some of his kicking wasn't first rate but I don't think that will ever be a real strength of his but he is hard at the ball and playing good football.

Jason Tutt - Really good game by Tutt today despite being underutilised by his team mates when he was on the wing by himself. He seems to have a good rapport with Panos up forward and often drilled the ball in to the advantage of Panos.
Took a magnificent mart (for his size) in the 3rd quarter and slotted it through which was a real highlight and also provided some nice runs through the middle. Tutt kicked 2 goals for the game.

Eddie Prato - Similar game to last week with improved rucking and fitness from the first few games of the season. He has a great leap although he does jump a bit early which impacts the accuracy of his tap work. Copped a few knocks and struggled a bit in the last quarter. Took a nice slips style grab in the 2nd quarter up forward but fell well short from 40mtr with his set shot. His kicking doesn't have a lot of power.

Matthew Panos - Once again his 2nd half performance was a lot better than the 1st half but in difficult conditions he did well with some strong marks and powerful kicks.
He missed one from 45mtr out in the 3rd quarter but also also gave a goal to one of his team mates with some unselfish play. Took a number of marks in the 4th quarter and finished the game strongly. Kicked 5 goals for the game in an impressive effort.

On of the highlights of the game was Nick Sing who put in a long run of 5 bounces at full tilt, handballed the ball and then got it back before slotting it though for a goal. It was a sensational piece of play.

You would have thought Johnson's comeback might have just got a little coverage on 10 tonight! Poor form

Or even on GVGjr's match report. Oh well it fantastic his back and I will see him live in a few weeks when he slots back into the No6 jumper of Red White and Blue.
        BB.

Looking forward - Naughton, Darcy and JUH. It will be the envy of everyone.

He hasn't done the seniors report just yet.

A quick summary of the seniors.

We were way too tall especially given the conditions.

Boumann was on a wing and I don't think he knew where to run too. Quiet game

Reid was the ruck rover and performed OK. Looks to be in better condition than a couple of weeks back.

Callan was used across half back and copped a heavy knock in the 2nd quarter. He went OK

Mulligan started off on the bench and then spent some time on Aaron Edwards. Didn't get much of the ball but neither did Edwards.

Tiller was the CHB and I'm surprised that he was named in the better players. He seems to me to be too small for playing the key tall spots and a step too slow to be used off the flanks. He didn't do a lot wrong.

Everitt was used up forward and I thought he was lively and played the game in a spirited manner. Was OK when used in the ruck.

Addison started on in the BP but never got a lot of the ball

Roughead was the ruckman and battled away OK but not one of the better players.

Jones took some nice grabs and kicked a goal but the conditions didn't suit him.

Ward was right in the better players and despite giving up a couple of free kicks really did put in for the 4 quarters.

Rose played in the midfield and up forward but wasn't a big contributor.

Johnson did OK as far as I am concerned. He moved between forward and midfield duties and got a bit of the ball. His kicking wasn't as sharp as I hoped but he will be a lot better for the run.

Hooper was busy and effective as a small forward and worked hard for his 4 goals.

Howard started on on the IC bench but was on quick enough. Mainly used in the back line and whilst he didn't get a lot of the ball he looked comfortable enough playing in the seniors. His kicking was good in the conditions and at times he even displayed a good burst of speed. Nowhere near one of the better players but there was some good signs.

I'll add some more before tomorrows game.

                Thanks GVGjr.

Could you see Hooper getting a run as a small forward? He must be a good chance to get upgraded at the end of the year if he keeps performing like this.

Not really. I can't see the sense in promoting him at the moment. A small forward who isn't quick would struggle at the AFL level.

Is it fair to say Panos will struggle to get a game with Matt Little in the side? Both are pretty one dimensional lead and mark type full forwards. I would think its going to make it tough for Panos to get a good run for a while.

What Hooper like in terms of defensive pressure? I loved his courage and footy smarts at u/18 level but never really thought he could make it at afl level with his size and shape. We certainly have a need for a small forward who can buzz around and pressure the opposition pace or no pace. They knew the deficiencies in his game when they drafted him but he is still getting the job done at the next level so its going to put pressure on the club to make a decision on him. If they think he isn't quick enough then you would have to ask why we drafted him.

                        Re: Williamstown vs North Ballarat

                        Thanks for the report GVGjn,

GVGjn quite a few people are calling for Everitt to come into the side.

The last couple of weeks he seems to be playing forward with sometime in the ruck. Do you think the club now believe his best spot is as the 3rd forward and pinch hit in the ruck or is he playing there cause of the lack depth in our ruck stocks at VFL level?

If he is to come in whose role do you see him taking? Hahn, Hill or Minson?

Personally I think if they saw him as a midfileder he would be playing that role at Williamstown.
More of an In Bruges guy?

I'm not sure what plans the club has on how to best utilise Everitt so it's hard to predict who he could replace but possibly replacing Hahn makes sense.
The Williamstown side is very tall especially for defenders and I guess that is one of the reasons why Everitt is being played as a forward. I think he could become a handy 3rd tall forward but he just hasn't shown enough to suggest that it would be a good move for him.

I don't see Everitt being used as a midfielder.

                            Thanks for that.

It appears unfortunate for Everitt at this stage we are struggling for runners not tallish type players

Positive to hear about Howard getting throught he game. No pre-season, very little gametime & his first game at that level.

He was good in the reserves against Frankston but it was hard to gauge how fit he really was.
He was on and off the bench a fair bit yesterday but he seemed to have all the right ingredients to perform well at that level. Good pace and commitment to get the ball plus his kicking skills won't let him down too often.

As you say, given his limited pre-season he now has to be ahead of schedule.
