    Williamstown funded rookie 2011

In 2009 it was Liam Picken, in 2010 it was Patrick Rose, who would we like to see given an opportunity by Williamstown in 2011?

I know I’m not on my lonesome on this one but I think it might be worthwhile giving Peter Faulks a second lifeline at AFL level. The knock on him is always going to be he’s too skinny to play on the gorilla’s, but with Lake, Williams, and Morris available to us he could be handy as an option to play on the third opposition tall if required. Personally I think with his athleticism, height, and general body positioning smarts he is a far more appealing option than Hargrave “playing tall”.

What are you thoughts? I’ve heard Dane Rampe’s name mentioned by others, if he could only kick just a little Grossman would be appealing, is Rose worth giving another year? Or is their someone at another club Willi could benefit from bringing in from another club?

I think it has to be Faulks, as you say can play on a 3rd tall. SS mentioned Lockwood. I dont know what postion he would play at AFL level, can kick it and is hard at it. Not sure on his pace for someone so small.

Faulks for mine, Grossman's pace is tempting, especially with Harbrow gone, but his decision making and skills let him down.

It depends on whether we think Faulks will survive to the rookie draft - the ABC commentators are inclined to think he wont, and I'd agree.

I'm a Rampe fan as well, but I don't think the rookie scheme is limited to Williamstown-listed players so perhaps a pocket/crumber might be given a shot? Matt Little would surely come into consideration too.

No it's not, I mentioned that in the OP. So long as the Bulldogs are happy with the player I would've thought it could be a brilliant recruiting option for Willi, they can virtually choose any unlisted player in the country and have them play for them unless they are upgraded. Perhaps that was one of the selling points German used to get Faulks to Willi.

                Faulks.

Surely we can just commit to him and tell every other club to piss off?

So he'd be about 21-22yo? Good size, especially if he has a yard of pace. I'll bow to the Williamstown watchers but I'd be happy to add Faulks to our tall defender stocks if the upside is there.

Faulks for me also, have been very impressed with him the few times i've watched Willi this year. If he could get his weight up around the 90kg mark, would be a very good sized defender, to play on a third tall or young tall.

I'm also surprised Scotty Clayton didn't pick him up, seems to fit his beanpole, athletic and quick (with an inability to put on weight) selection criteria.

As you say, his disposal stinks which is a shame because he has all the other tools.

I'd prefer someone who could hit the side of a barn door.
