Patrick Rose signs with Port Melbourne

After not being renewed by the Bulldogs as an AFL Rookie listed player,
Apparently Patrick Rose has moved over to bitter rival and stand alone vfl club Port Melbourne.

I think that is a good move by the player and also one that benefits the Bulldogs.
It's a shame he didn't make a better go of his chance to impress the match committee

Probably a good thing for the Dogs(but not Willi) as he's not in our plans.

If Matt Little moves on thats our forward line as good as gone. Really disappointed that Willy couldnt keep him on there.

Why we recruited him in the first place, I still cannot comprehend. A small and not so quick forward pocket who is ok overhead but not a big enough engine to go in the middle.

Panos may be the big winner here. With Little a real chance for the draft, Panos may find himself the no 1 target forward in the VFL seniors at times in 2011.

If he could get himself fitter he could be a surprise packet.

Matt Little really commands the ball in the forward line, much like Pods did a few years back at Werribee. Panos has shown that he can kick bags of goals but when there are a few options in the forward line he can be very quiet (ie has struggled when promoted to the 1st's).

Panos seems to have a bit of the single position problem - he really looks like he can only play at FF. Left to his own devices he would probably develop into the forwardline version of John Anthony, minus the enourmous noggin.

All the more reasons why Panos needs good players around him in the forward line to adapt to playing with good players around him if he wants a future at the top level, and if he can't adapt, he simply won't make it.

The problem with Panos is that I can't see how he could ever play FF at AFL level.

He's too slow to get seperation on a defender. His only chance is to lose the fat arse and build up a tank big enough to work up the ground. He won't need a lot of touches to hurt the opposition with his kicking, he just has to get a dozen touches a game and not get burnt going the other way.

As I said to you one day, I see Panos as a young Nick Saunter.

                        It's a good comparison.

I can see Panos kicking plenty of goals at state league level and not be able to go on and do it at AFL level
