Majak Daw, Goal of the day for Werribee V Collingwood.
Re: Majak Daw, Goal of the day for Werribee V Collingwood.
It will be interesting to see how he develops in the next 2 seasons. Fantastic running and great athleticism. Too small to be a full time ruckman I would think but if he can play as a forward with the occasional run in the ruck he will provide plenty of options for the selectors.

I watched most of the game and while he was really good at times and showed flashes of brilliance. In general play Majak reminded me alot of Wayde Skipper i.e., too short to play ruck (in the AFL) andnot good enough to play anywhere else. Good luck to him though I hope he makes a good fist of playing top grade football.

While he is about the same size as Skipper, he shows a touch of pace that Skipper NEVER possessed.
The Majak is still learning his way, but has made fantastic progress. I would go to see him play.

Seeing as you watched the game - how did Brett Eddy go up forward for Collingwood? I know that he kicked 3 - as he is my missus' cousin - but I didn't see the game and wondered how he looked out there as it was his first VFL game for the year. Looking for an independant view rather than the biased family view!

You mean, the perfect 2nd ruckman in this age of limited interchange/the sub-rule? He's already Leigh Brown plus (minus the experience and premiership medallion).

I don't think Brown could ruck for more than 10mins per quarter and I think Daw needs to be able to prove he can play as a KP player before he could really become a valuable asset.
The Skipper comparison is a good one.

Eddy was very good, he was a shining light for a side that was well beaten. He took some very good marks across half forward, got a fair bit of the ball too.
Thanks mate. Glad to hear he went well. He broke his ankle for Sandringham and ended up back home playing local (country) footy last year - so its good to see him do well with his first opportunity for the Pies.

Awesome goal,
How fast was he going!
the camera's struggled to keep up.
I love the reaction of his teamates when he goes to the bench.
I still think the dogs not drafting him was a big mistake. A real missed opportunity, even if he doesn't become a star, the in-roads into the local Sudanese population which we so often focus on in itself would of been so valuable.

I dont think we had the chance, North had a pick before us that we were going to take him.
