Tutt looks like he can play, already kicked a couple, as has Vez, Panos and Skinner

Gee Davenport is a gun at this level. Jolly killing them. Tutt improved a lot. Scoffield a real goer, wants to play.

No Ayce. Stack looks same as at afl level. Barlow plays soft, not scared, soft, non contact.

Ves is smart. Gilbee just ok.

Solid perforamnce by Williamstown winning fairly comfortably although letting West Adelaide finish strong.

Really liked the games of Dahlhaus, Vez, Hooper, Panos and Scholfield. The pressure collectively was very good and the willingness to break from the contest I really liked.

From the game i'd imagine the above mentioned will come into consideration for a run in the senoirs in the coming weeks as well as Skinner, Roughy and Tutt.

No Mitch Hahn or Cordy in the side, missed the bit in the telecast when they mentioned it.

Foxtel Cup: Seagulls in semis, West Adelaide out

            Callum Twomey

WILLIAMSTOWN will meet East Perth in the first semi-final of the Foxtel Cup after a six-goal second quarter set up the Seagulls' 19-point win over West Adelaide at AAMI Stadium on Saturday.

The Seagulls led by only four points at quarter-time but surged in the second quarter to lead by 35 points by the main break of the quarter-final.

Though the Bloods showed more spirit in the second half (booting six goals to three in the last quarter), the Seagulls were too strong and ran out 15.6 (96) winners to North Adelaide's 12.5 (77).

Williamstown's side was loaded with players with AFL experience - 11 of the 22 had played at least one AFL game - and it was a critical factor with many of them playing pivotal roles in the win.

            Article in full...

            West Adelaide 2.2 3.3 6.4 12.5 (77)
            Williamstown 3.0 9.2 12.2 15.6 (96)

            GOALS
West Adelaide: Jonathon Beech 5, F. Caruso 2, Agars, N. Caruso, Ezard, Macreadie, Webb
Williamstown: Skinner 3, Hooper 2, Panos 2, Tutt 2, Veszpremi 2, Davies, Gilbee, Roughead, Woods

            BEST
West Adelaide: Beech, Davenport, Macreadie, Caire, F. Caruso
Williamstown: Jolley, Hudson, Dahlhaus, Davies, Hooper, Veszpremi, Tutt

Re: West Adelaide v Williamstown - Foxtel Cup

I just watched the game and liked Tutt's run and carry, he is not afraid to get the ball. Has very good foot speed.
Dahlhaus must get elevated and play against the Saints next week. Played on ball and got a lot of contested footy and contributed to a few goals in the first qtr especially. Was a consistent player throughout the game, would have had at least 24 possessions.
Schofield has got good speed and Johannisen may have something to offer as a quick half back flanker.
Vespa made the most of his opportunities kicking a few goals, smart footballer, not too sure he busts his gut though

Good to hear -- who currently in the senior side would they be challenging for a place with?

Re: West Adelaide v Williamstown - Foxtel Cup

Got down and had a good look today. A few Williamstown people made the journey over, and had a nice chat with an older bloke who helped me out with the team list.

A few late changes to the side, with Hahn and Cordy both not playing.

The Williamstown side on a whole was a lot stronger on paper, with a bunch of Dogs players named.

Markovic was OK, did a few good things without being prominent.

Gilbee is a class above at this level. Kicked a few very good balls including one to set up the first goal, and also did some good defensive work including a smother that led to another goal.

Schofield did a few good things, although I wouldn't say it was a strong performance.

Barlow provided a bit of a chop out in the ruck, and did OK in the back line. He's a big unit, not what I would call a smooth mover and IMO someone who is a good player at this level but possibly struggle up another notch.

Stack was OK. Kicked one lovely ball to Zeph that was just about perfect. Wouldn't be disappointed if he came back into the Dogs side next week.

Tutt was the standout Dogs listed player for me. Got involved a lot, used the ball well and spread very well to get to position. A few times he was an option by hand after a mark, but given the ball wasn't moved very quickly often didn't end up with it. Based on today's game, I'd be very tempted to play him next week. I think he'll go well at AFL level.

Vez was OK, but I didn't think he was a standout. Took a few good marks leading up and kicked a couple but just lacks a little something at the moment which IMO will hold him back.

Panos was solid. His body shape looks much improved as others have posted previously. He worked fairly hard on his defensive efforts and is a lovely kick for goal. I think there is a spot for him on the senior list.

Zeph is exactly what everyone says. He's exciting, and looks like getting dangerous a bit. His execution isn't always fantastic, but he chased hard at times and I think is certainly worth persisting with. If it can all 'click' he's going to be a player.

Roughead was OK, took a few marks up forward and put in some solid defensive efforts. He'd be around the mark for senior selection, but didn't knock the door down today.

Hooper was lively and did some good things. I'm not sure he has enough tricks to make it at AFL level, so he really needs to rely on his intensity and defensive work to give him an edge, and he needs to continue working on those areas. Ran through the middle at times and didn't look over-awed which was a positive for me.

Hudson did alright in the ruck, often getting first hands on the ball. He looked absolutely knackered when he came off though, and some of his words with one of the West players (and Hooper who replaced Hudson going at him) was good value.

Dahlhaus was OK. The guy I spoke to said he wasn't as prominent as previous weeks, but he's very clean with his hands below the knees. Agile, and recovery is very good. A few times he only got a dinky kick away from the clearance situation, and needs to get better at finding an option by hand or creating more space with his pace to execute a better kick. Overall, a solid performance.

JJ was good. Liked his game, his pace and disposal was alright. I think he's a chance to make it.

McHarg looks a likely type, and I hope the Dogs follow his progress closely over the course of the year.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

I saw it at a distance in a pub with no commentary. The score did not do Williamstown justice. The WA FF kIcked 5 but about 3 were umpiring gifts.

Thanks G16, well summed up. I thought Dahlihaus was very good, love his speed and Tutt was excellent. Was it Tutt that kicked the ripper goal with a big banana kick?

The one thing I liked was there are a few Willi players that can kick a ball.

Unfortunately it's not our choice. With Hudson going back there Cordy is just 1 to many rucks.

For those that saw the game who would the likely inclusions be? There couldn't be much left of that door that Dahlhaus has been bashing on every week.

Watched it and thought Dahlhaus was good again, we've got in and under types but this guy can break the lines.Tutt was also good, I think the only thing holding Veszpremi back is that he lacks a little urgency. Skinner although still raw just has that "X" Factor about him.Dissapointed with Gilbee he should be doing more at this level. Adam Ramanaskus thinks we should have him play a shut down role in the seniors.Give him some responsibility ? Peoples thoughts?

I think it reflects that with Roughead available he will be closer to a recall than Cordy and of course we haven't ruled a line through Hudson. 3 ruckman even in the VFL is a difficult assignment.

Yes, that was Tutt I believe.

Agree on the kicking, quite a few of the young guys look sharp. They are also on a whole smooth movers, and I think both skill sets will translate well to AFL.

We were able to sit right next to the interchange, and it was great being able to hear the voice and talk of the players. Lots of guys from the bench were yelling directions, helping to make position changes and point out how opposition players were moving at the stoppage etc, which I liked to see.
