    Small world indeed!

I'm catching up with "Uncle Super Mario" on Friday, I'll mention it to him.

Good to hear TCD. The umpiring department in the WRFL is excellent and as you mentioned have great camaraderie. Just don't let him go to Albury for the end of season trip

Brilliant that the young fella has taken up the caper and is enjoying it. The game desparately needs young umpires coming through.

I live in Western Victoria and my boss is in my town's umpiring group. He's just the wrong side of 50 and he's the youngest and fittest of the group. The area is crying out for young umpires coming through but there just isn't the interest out here.

Does he still play at Centrals? If he wants to make a few more buck next year they always need boundary umpires for the reserves and u/18s on a Saturday (obviously for the home games as i doubt you'd want to travel to Winchelsea and Bannockburn).

Anyone is welcome so he doesn't need to be GDFL affiliated.

He boundary umpires on a Saturday in the WRFL, has a final tomorrow morning at Werribee between Deer Park & Albanvale.

Last night he won the Best First Year Umpire in the WRFL, so he was stoked, also got a Prelim to umpire on Sunday morning so he's doing something right.

I hope MJP doesnt read this.

That's great news Baz. It gives those of us with teenage kids who want to do something in sport but arent really sure what something to mention to them.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

If he has his Dads knowledge of football he will be off to a great start.

IIRC I was threatened with removal from the Christmas Card list if I ever took up the caper.

I also remember someone else referring to the whistle I was holding as a 'hideous growth'
