A person of the upmost integrity with enormous charisma and good looks no doubt.
I'm sure that little weed of an umpire we had that season will attest to your integrity and Charisma. The game we played against AA's team when Borgy made him pack his dacks could have landed you in court on any number of charges.
A good mate of mine is a boundary umpire in the WRFL, hes a touch older then you're lad at 17 but he loves it as well. Good money, good people and he's gotten super fit, has definitley given him a bit of ambition to take it further. He had the chance to go down to Tassie for a weekend and umpire down there so doors do open if he sticks with it
Just interested in the level of abuse (if any) he has copped from parents. You hear stories all the time about parents going 'troppo' at umpires so I'm interested if your son has been subject to any such abuse? If he has what has the WRFL done to support him?
Just thought I'd relay what happened yesterday morning. At quarter time a couple of shall we say less than complimentary spectators got out the middle of the ground at quarter time & abused the field umpires before heading off to their teams huddle. A fair few expletives & allegations of cheating were used. One of the 'cheats' was my son.
The ground manager had security round up the culprits then they were promptly removed from the venue!

Rightly so.
I'm guessing both heroes have never had the balls to take up the whistle themselves.

What a bunch of wankers. How did the Coon Pup take it?
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

Really disappointing to read

Great to read.
I'm sure the other field ump would have helped your son with handling that and not letting it effect him. Hopefully this idiot doesn't discourage him too much.

Just got on with it & called it as he saw it. After the game he said he was disappointed with what happened, but as Topdog the other field umpire helped him focus on what he could control.

Some people get emotional at games but that is beyond a joke abusing kids.
Good on him for handling it well.
