    Emma Quayle's top 15

Not a phantom draft, just Emma's pick of the top 15.

    Patton
    Coniglio
    Tyson
    Buntine
    Longer
    Wingard
    Hoskin-Elliott
    Greene
    Sumner
    Kavanagh
    Devon Smith
    Tomlinson
    Kersten
    Haynes
    Docherty

If they were to fall this way, those left would include (discriptions blatantly stolen from Knightmare on BF cos I have no idea):

    Inside Mid
    Taylor Adams (VIC – Mid/Fwd)
    Height: 181cm, Weight: 80kg, DOB: 20/09/1993
    Recruited from: Geelong Falcons
    Style: Nathan Foley
    Range: 5-20
Profile: Really impressive inside midfielder. Has really good pace and agility. Has great burst speed and moves really well. Don’t think he would look out of place at AFL level now to be honest. Seems that class above. Good tackling ability. Stands up strongly in tackles and has the strength to break away. Strong mark and can use his body well in marking contests to beat his man which gives him so forward potential as well as midfield potential. Has a great work ethic and is a future leader at whichever club he lands at. His handball ability even under pressure is very good. Looks like an immediate fit who can play at the next level sooner rather than later.

    Key Forward
    Jackson Paine (VIC – KPF/Mid)
    Height: 193cm, Weight: 87kg, DOB: 21/06/1993
    Recruited from: Sandringham Dragons
    Style: Matthew Pavlich
    Range: 10-35
Profile: Really like Paine as a forward. Particularly strong mark on the lead but also marks strongly overhead. Marks at the highest point which is what you look for in all good forwards. Really hard working type who seems to enjoy the contest. Good work rate. Can push into the midfield and play really well in there as well as up forward. Good field kick for someone his size.
Why: Possibly a little early for Paine, but GWS need some more key position players and Paine would be a good choice. Liked Paine’s work throughout the U18 champs playing as the no.2 marking target alongside Patton so I think he could be a nice fit for GWS.

    Utility Back
    Alex Forster (SA – Def/Util)
    Height: 189cm, Weight: 75kg, DOB: 14/07/1993
    Recruited from: Norwood
    Range: 10-45
Profile: Versatile medium size player. Have seen him mainly down back but can play through the midfield or up forward well. Have seen him do some really nice defensive jobs down back. Has a high skill level and is very duel sided. Strong overhead. Shows some good run and carry with the ball in hand. Was great throughout the U18 champs and form in the later part of the season will likely move him up the rankings further than expected.

    Key Back
    Fraser McInnes (WA – KPF/KPD)
    Height: 194cm, Weight: 91kg, DOB: 19/07/1993
    Recruited from: Perth Football Club
    Style: Dustin Fletcher
    Range: 10-45
Profile: Key position player with great potential at his size. Strong mark overhead. Very mobile and should grow out well. Has had some injury difficulties but looks good. Versatility is there for him to play a range of positions, but possibly like him more as a key forward. 1st round quality talent who despite not playing throughout the U18 champs is slowly rising up the standings.

    Flanker
    Brad McKenzie (SA – Mid/Def)
    Height: 188cm, Weight: 75kg, DOB: 29/05/1993
    Recruited from: Sturt
    Style: Dyson Heppell/ Trent McKenzie
    Range: 10-35
Profile: The thing that stands out with McKenzie is his skills by foot, is the absolute feature of his game. Has a great penetrating left foot kick on him and can consistently find targets or kick long goals from 60m out without any difficulty. Even under pressure executes by foot without any difficulty. Not a sensational athlete but makes up for it with his skill level. Seems to have a really good understanding of the game and reads the play well. Inside work is also very good. Was one of SA’s best midfielders in the u18 champs and had a couple of big games. A bit of a flanker but can play midfield. Quality ball user.

Purely on the write-ups, I would be cool with any of them.

    Re: Emma Quayle's top 15

I really like the sound of Taylor, and it would be great if he slipped to us but its doubtful.

Barring that, McKenzie also has the qualities I think we need badly - ability to both win the hard ball, and use it well by hand OR foot.

The fact that both of these guys could rotate forward is also a plus.

    From Special 88 phantom:

    #10 GWS - Taylor Adams (181cm midfielder - Geelong)

Adams has always been around the mark, I tend to drop him for more flashy players but it’s about time I had him up where he deserves to be – and his leadership alone makes him a good pick up in the top 10. Another inside midfielder, Adams was named in the U18 All Australian side this year. He is what you'd expect an inside midfielder to be, and while he might not be the fastest player going around he makes up for that with his contested work and strength. Can also go forward and have an impact there. AFL Comparison: Jimmy Bartel.

#18 North Melbourne - Brad McKenzie (188cm midfielder - Sturt)

I'd like to see North go tall, but you can never have too many classy users of the ball. Another SA midfielder, and once again he has elite foot skills. His left boot was as good as anyones in the Championships. I think he'll play across half back and the wing, although having said that his inside work is good and he should be apart of midfield rotations. He always seems to have time and space, and he uses that to set a lot of run. Also a good mark above his head. AFL Comparison: Trent McKenzie.

Is there any predictions on who we will take at 17?

Some guy that others rate as a third rounder but we are worried he will go early is my worst nightmare prediction.

            no idea otherwise.

Cool, Emma has the exact same top 9 as me

Hayden Crozier would be nice if he slips that far.

He hasn't made her top 15 which to me seems about right. It doesn't mean people don't rate him.

Where would you expect Talia to go GVG?

Would you be disappointed/happy if the dogs looked at him with pick 17?

He's a good player and I won't be disappointed if we pick him or overlook him.
He's tough and reads the play well but his kicking isn't quite where it needs to be. I thought he did very well in the finals.
My guess is that we will focus more on players ability to run with the ball.

Kicking is likely to be an issue, as it is with Daniel. Greater issues may stem from how highly he regards himself. On and off-field.

As in he is over confident or under?
