2011 National Draft - Climbers and Sliders?

We have done our WOOF Phantom Draft so I was wondering who people thought might be the climbers and sliders at the National Draft?

Is there any chance that Chad Wingard might slide to number 6 so Port might get him?
What about Sam Frost climbing his way into the top 20?

Which players do you feel might rise or fall on draft day?

If Wingard makes it to pick 6 Port will be very happy, but I just can't see it happening.

Frost is an interesting one. Could go pretty early, somewhere in the 15-30 range I suspect.

There are always a couple of bolters to the line, so will be interesting to see what unfolds over the next week or so.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

What's the word on Billy Longer's hamstring? Heard it was going to lead to a little slide from him because he missed the camp, but can't see him sliding too far.

I think Frost is a monty for top 20. He is too big, too athletic and played too well in the first game of the carnival to slip. Sure - he is inconsistent, but I just think that his best is nearly better than ANYONE else in the draft - certainly any other kpp candidate.

I think Wingard could fall to Port's pick. Hoskin Elliot is the safer bet, Wingard has more potential. I'd go for Wingard personally though.

I've mentioned this earlier, I don't think Frost is a top 20 pick. He does some great things, but can back it up with some really poor things. His skills aren't that great either. I see him going around the 20's - early 30's.

          Some I think could slide.

Brad McKenzie - He's slow, his inside work isn't as good as some are saying, he tested fairly poorly for endurance, could do with some more work defensively, needs to put on more size and isn't a very good tackler. I just see too many negatives.

Brody Mihocek - All Australian back man, but tested really, really bad. Can see him slipping to the rookie draft.

Elliot Kavanagh - Injury concerns and I've heard he's hard to work with (unsure if that's totally true). Nothing to do with ability. I think he could slip to our pick.

Michael Talia - I've never been big on Talia. His ball use and defensively he can be inconsistent. I've seen him get found out a bit on the lead which does mean he's a bit limitted.. Doesn't have a great deal of upside either.

          Bolters

Jordan Murdoch - I think he could sneak into 1st round contention.

Apart from that, I'm really not sure

I haven't seen him play but that description sounds like a young Brian Lake. Any similarities MJP?

Marley Williams interests me. I'd consider him at our second pick, although that could be a little early. But the limited I've seen and heard of him, I rate the kid and think he's what we need.

Lockyer was a slider in our PD, but I can see him going earlier.

Kavanagh is an interesting one. I'll be eager to see where he lands.

Marley? He is just so raw...you have to keep in mind that when it comes to footy education he is miles behind - he has only had one year in the state system after moving to Perth from the bush. I doubt he would have interviewed well...coming from miles back.

Lockyer is an angle-cutting defender. Nice kid but I think he will have limited appeal. Smart player but limited athletically...good character though. Has a lot of the Jason Cloke's about him to me.

I cannot see how Kavanagh would slip.

I agree that Talia will slip, Mihocek doesn't do anything special...McKenzie is interesting. He finds the footy - his testing results tell a story though - how important is footy too him?

He's got something special about him though. He's got class and provided his attitude is good, I think an AFL club could develop him into a damaging player. He'll take 2-3 years, but I'd say he's worth it at around a third pick.

Granted, a club like West Coast are in a better position than us to 'punt' on him.

How far could Talia slip - and would he (if available) be worth taking at our second pick?

I am hoping like hell we grab him at 17(exactly what we need on our list and he is quality), but won't be surprised to see Freo take him at 16 or GWS with one of their picks.

And at his worst he's just plain awful. I guess GWS is in a position to take a risk, but I wouldn't. The gap between his best and worst is too big for my liking.

I couldn't see Kavanagh slipping a few weeks ago either, but I've heard some whispers of late.

McKenzie I had in the top 20 prospects coming into the draft combine. I was a bit disappointed with his testing.
