Not my local club but the team my dad played for Mayne Tigers, produced everyones favourite player Jason Akermanis. Also where Richard Champion played out his career.Unfortunately were booted out of the qafl, just a second tier club based at Nundah in brisbanes north.

As an ankle biter I played under 10's for Sunshine Heights, but I dont know if any dogs came through from there. Im sure some of you guys who live in the area could tell us.

My local team here in Geelong is the powerhouse South Barwon. Consistent Grand Finalists for the past decade and won a good deal of them. No dogs players that I can remember, just Scott Thompson that plays for North.

I went to Sunshine West High school in the last 60's early 70's. I know at least two students went on to play with the Dogs, but never achieved any great heights.

Sunshine Heights was formed, in the mid 70's?

Could have been, after my time there.

We did have a stand in PE teacher for a few weeks called Ken Fletcher (Dustins father), now I am showing my age.

Ken wore number 21, always got him in the footy cards packets!

I was in the under 10s at sunshine heights during the late 70's.
I went to Glengala Primary school where Bruce Reid was my PE teacher whilst he was playing for the Dogs, around the same period the late 70's.

I was at Glengala until grade 6 in 1981, then we moved to the Geelong area. Glengala Primary is just off Fairburn Road.

Saw the VFA thread given a bump so thought following on with the theme to give this thread a bump.

For woofers who haven't answered yet or want to update. Any past or present Bulldog players from your local footy club. If not you can still state your local club and who came from there.

                            Re: Your Local Football Club

I played junior footy with Spotswood (FDL) and Newport Central (WSFL).

In my Spotswood teams, no-one made VFL (AFL), although the club has produced heaps of players over the years, most notable Dogs would be Charlie Sutton and Callan Ward.

At Newport Central, the only player in my team to make AFL was future North Premiership Full Back Mick Martyn - wasn't a gun youngster, but hardest worker and good bloke.

In the year below us one year we had future Bulldog Ron James, who debuted in a Grand Final for Williamstown by 14, played with Footscray by 16 but tragically died in a water-skiing accident at 19 with the world at his feet.

Also played High School footy (Williamstown High) with future North Premiership player Ian Fairley, who was frighteningly good and being chased by VFL clubs as a year 8 student (he kicked 8 goals on debut for Willy in the VFA when in Year 9).

I went to Willy High too PP. About 10 years before you I'd say if you played footy with Fairley.
