    Williamstown Practice Match Results

From the Williamstown Football Club website

Williamstown has accounted for the Box Hill Hawks in both games on Friday Night at the Whitten Oval. In near identical scorelines both the Senior and the Development side won by 73 points against a Box Hill team with no AFL representation. It was a perfect opening hit-out for the Seagulls who avoided any injuries and were able to get valuable game time into a variety of key players.

Jamie McNamara showed what an asset he will be for Williamstown this year while a number of young first year players impressed across the two games.

    SENIORS:

    WILLIAMSTOWN 1.2 6.4 10.5 14.11 (95)

    BOX HILL 0.1 1.2 2.3 3.4 (22)

    GOALS: Dickson 3 Hooper 3 Cordy 2 McNamara 1 Hoghton 1 Hill 1 Skinner 1 Campbell 1 Cravino 1

    DEVELOPMENT:

    WILLIAMSTOWN 1.1 4.1 10.2 15.3 (93)

    BOX HILL 1.0 1.0 2.0 3.2 (20)

    GOALS: Bugeja 3 Conway 3 Anastasio 2 Gray 2 Lockwood 2 Polizzi 1 Majok 1 Morris 1

Williamstown returns to the Whitten Oval on Friday to face the Northern Blues in the second of their practice matches. The Senior Game starts at 4pm. Admission is free.

Some good names in the goal kickers list. If anyone can get down on Friday a report would be great.

According to posts on a Hawthorn board, Grant played at CHB and Dickson played primarily throught the middle.

And still managed to be the leading goalscorer?

Very good news if true. Can anyone confirm this?

          Seagulls go down in Ballarat

Williamstown's unbeaten pre-season has ended at the hands of North Ballarat with a 28 point loss in Sunday's final practice match hitout. The young Seagulls side featured a number of new faces and 17 players under the age of 21. Inaccuracy hurt the visiting side kicking 5.8 in the 3 quarter match.

Gun recruits Jamie McNamara and James Wall led the way kicking 3 and 2 goals apiece. Nathan Giles and Ben Christodoulou were also infleuntial across the course of the game.

The Development side launched a late comeback but ultimately fell 3 points short in the earlier game. A slow start into the breeze hurt the Seagulls as North Ballarat skipped out to a 3 goal lead at the break. In pleasing news for Williamstown followers Ed Carr and Nick Georgiadis capped their return from injuries with 2 goals a piece.

          SENIORS:

We've certainly had trouble with them in recent times, but we did hammer them in the finals last year. Minson and Panos cut them to pieces.

We are not the only ones they have the wood on. They are habitual winners.

Were there many/any AFL players playing on either team?

I was talking about the Practice match specifically but I agree they've been very good against us. Hopefully losing Stephenson might change that.
