If Willy win this they will play Port Melbourne in the next round (assuming Port can overcome the might of NT Thunder!)

Pretty scrappy game so far, doesn't look like it will be an easy win for Williamstown.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

Am I right in assuming Pearce isn't playing? I like the idea of one emergency not playing if it's a day or two prior to our game.

Despite this game being in Victoria the umpiring is all for South Adelaide

I saw 3 SA goals. One mark was in the back to Talia. The first goal, the ump missed 2 frees to willy then paid around the neck to SA. Talia then penalized for in the back when tackling from the side.
                          ?

Saying that the kicking from Williamstown into the F50 is shocking.

Defending champion Williamstown bundled out of Foxtel Cup

South Adelaide has advanced to the next round of the Foxtel Cup with a thrilling win over Williamstown

                              By Ben Guthrie | 12/05/2012 10:00 AM

DEFENDING Foxtel Cup champions Williamstown have been bundled out of the competition, with South Adelaide progressing to the second round after a five-point win at the MCG on Saturday.

The game had all the hallmarks of an arm-wrestle in the first half, but the Panthers raised their work rate to open up a marginal buffer in the third quarter.

The Panthers had a couple of opportunities to close out the game early in the fourth quarter, but they gave the Seagulls a reprieve with a pair of costly misses.

The Seagulls narrowed the margin to a single kick in the dying stages of the game, but the Panthers held firm to win 6.12 (48) to 6.7 (43).

Both teams were dogged by inaccuracy in front of goal, but the Panthers’ forward entries (37-30) yielded them the winning score.

South Adelaide’s Andrew Ainger’s height caused big problems for the Seagulls, and his two goals and general presence (five marks) in the forward line proved decisive.

Panthers midfielder Nicholas Liddle racked up 26 touches, while Adelaide-listed Andy Otten was damaging off half-back with 17 disposals.

After a somewhat dour opening, the Panthers seized the moment and stepped up their intensity in the third quarter.

They held a 15-point margin at three-quarter-time before the Seagulls roared back in to the contest on the back of a fantastic length of the ground goal from Dale Hoghton.

The Seagulls’ were aided by the performances of Ed Carr (22 touches) and Western Bulldogs players Clay Smith (18) and Lin Jong (17).

The ruck position was dominated by the Panthers (43-12) with Crows-listed big man Ben Dowdell and Keegan Brooksby giving their on-ballers first use.

Despite their dominance, the Seagulls hung around and the equation of seven points in three minutes looked like a definite possibility.

The Seagulls actually had their chances to clinch a win in the tense final stages, but their two shots sailed wide of the mark.
