Vezpremi dominates in the VFL it seems. I'm slightly encouraged by this, as I never seem to recall Everitt doing as well in the VFL. In my mind, that's how I'm measuring his success...if he does better than A E, it will be a win!
Wonder where he is at in the eyes of the club.

I don't believe Vez dominates in the VFL. He kicked a few goals but he wasn't in the best players list. He is very very unfit as he is constantly drawing breath after an effort. I thought Everitt played well at Willi, but just doesn't have the ability at AFL level, he isnot even in the Swans team at the moment.

Vez is not fit enough. As long as he is not fit enough he will never be up to it.

Yeah small tank, solid frame but isn't really a physical player by nature.

ideally he should be a good half back, using his good foot skills and agility similar to Murphy, but he's not accountable enough when he needs to be, and doesn't have the tank to outrun his opponents.

Playing half forward goal sneak on smaller VFL grounds in heavy ground and blustery wind is so far removed from AFL football.

Interesting that bulldogs players kicked 9 out of 11 goals but not one player got in the bests.

I haven't seen all the game yet but does anyone think any dogs players deserved to be in the bests? or could this be some sour grapes from the Williamstown hierachy over the number of players we have given them the last two weeks (6 and 7) and the falling out in our relationship with them?

I don't really think there was a standout 4 quarter performance by any of the Bulldog listed players, bearing in mind I was watching on TV and not at the ground - Wall was clearly BOG for mine, high workrate. Was everywhere.

TBH I don't think Vez is as far off the pace as many suggest; once a player develops a reputation, it is hard to shake so will always be repeated ie. Gia being soft (not on the past few years) and Hooper being fat (skinfolds at 44 on the other thread - better than most players).

I thought Hill was the best big man on the ground. Very impressed with him, especially under the conditions, and is a good shot at goal. Kicked a great goal from the boundary line from the right side on his right foot.

Willi prefer to have less Bulldogs listed players in the team as too may means not enough experience. Willi blame the listed Bulldogs players for losing the grand final last year as they were too young.

Should be a ripper game this week against Port.

I thought the Willy players did alot of the grunt work and the Dogs listed guys provided the polish. It is not that simple I know but thats how it felt to me. I think Greenwood was good with some really good clearance work and good defensive on ball efforts. He makes a little bit of space with the ball.

Starting in the twos and ending the year as starting rover for the form side in the VFL is pretty handy for a fella that looks like a skinny kid still. Shame he doesnt have more pace.

8 in a row for Seagulls

0 AT quarter-time with his club staring at an eighth consecutive finals loss, stretching back five seasons, and with the scoreboard reflecting a scoreline of before the game started, Casey Scorpions coach Brett Lovett didn’t mince his words.

“The intensity is pathetic,” fumed Lovett. “It’s a final, wake up.”

Lovett’s impassioned plea fell largely on deaf ears as the Scorpions were unable to make any impression on a more committed, disciplined and determined Williamstown.

Casey could not gain any momentum and therefore was not able to apply any scoreboard pressure as they repeatedly overused the ball while Williamstown seized on most of the opportunities.

The Seagulls posted its eighth successive win as they ended Casey’s season with an 11.9 (75) to 5.8 (38) victory which advanced them to a Preliminary Final against arch rival Port Melbourne.

It seemed the football godss conspired against Casey well before the match as several Melbourne players –Jake Spencer and Jack Fitzpatrick – were ruled out.

The Scorpions were forced to play seven players who had not played double digit senior VFL games and that

Compounding Casey’s woes, co-captain Kyle Matthews suffered concussion as a result of ‘friendly fire’ in the

And, later in the quarter when Evan Panozza’s misdirected a backwards pass into the arms of Williamstown forward Fletcher Roberts, who converted from 20 metres, the Scorpions season was effectively over.

At that point, Williamstown had kicked four goals while Casey was still searching for its first. Melbourne rookie Jai Sheahan finally kicked the Scorpions first goal at the 26-minute mark of the second quarter.

Williamstown did not allow Casey to get back into the game after half time. Western Bulldogs Matt Panos, Patrick Veszpremi and Tom Hill kicked the first three goals of the third quarter.

When Jordan Gysberts, one of just six Melbourne players in the Scorpions team, goaled at the 19-minute of

But, Ed Carr and Veszpremi effectively administered Casey’s last rites for season 2012 with the last two goals

As valiantly as Casey tried to rally, young Williamstown defenders Jack Charleston and Jack Frost continued their outstanding final series to repeatedly repel the Scorpions.

Casey could find no cohesion and its continual reluctance to use the first decision proved costly as they

While Williamstown received good value from its contingent of seven Bulldogs players, particularly Veszpremi and Panos, who combined for six of the Seagulls 11 goals, it was the Seagulls core senior group, which led the

Captain Ben Jolley, former Scorpion dual best and fairest winner James Wall and Brett Goodes showed why they are held in such high respect from their peers and VFL community.

All three showed just how final’s football is played and what’s needed when the conditions were as unfavourable as they were at Casey Fields.

Williamstown Senior Coach and Western Bulldogs Development Coach Peter German looks at how the Bulldogs listed players are faring in the VFL.

Patrick Veszpremi: Played mainly forward and was lively in his role as one of our key forwards. He kicked three really good goals at critical moments throughout the game.

Matt Panos: He kicked three goals also - with the wind the way it was blowing across the ground, I think it has been a season which has been tough for the key forwards this year. He made the most of his opportunities and laid four tackles on the weekend. He has been able to find the goals throughout the finals series, so he was good for us in that area again.

Tom Hill: He kicked two goals and played his role in the side as a forward and in the ruck - and I thought he did both of them really well. He is just starting to take on more responsibility and it is starting to come out in his game.

Fletcher Roberts: Fletch was forward and back. With the multiple options now in defence with our talls it gave Fletch the opportunity to go forward.

Brodie Moles: He was solid on the wing and he was important in a lot of our offensive plays through the midfield. Brodie has become a pretty important player with his experience over the past month.

Michael Talia: Talia came back from senior footy playing AFL. He probably wasn’t as effective as he has been over the journey - I think the change of pace and coming from Etihad Stadium to a windy ground down at Casey, it takes some adjusting.

Alex Greenwood: He has become pretty important in our midfield rotations now and he is really starting to take that responsibility on board. It is all part of his progression — his last couple of games have been really strong for us. It speaks of volumes of the development we have been putting into him and a lot of the young boys. Alex is going to important again for us this week.
