    Andrew Hooper

Strong rumours that he has signed for one of the SANFL teams

How was his firm and fitness this year in the VFL?
And my eternal gratitude if anyone can find a YouTube of the goal he kicked for us in the finals

My take is that his form and fitness were pretty solid - not a pun!

He is reasonably fit, as well as athletic and smart enough to be a contributor at VFL level, but he didn't go the extra mile to get himself in the kind of shape a guy with his physical limitations needed to - thats only my take

Whether he will maintain that when off a list I dont know

He'll be fine at state level. A good pick up in my opinion.

                    Press release:

The Glenelg Football Club has secured 21 year old Andrew Hooper for the next two seasons.

Former Western Bulldog Listed player Andrew Hooper has been signed to play mainly as a small goal kicking forward for Glenelg and will undoubtedly add versatility to the improving forward line.

Andrew is an emerging player and would have gained invaluable experience in his 7 appearances with the Bulldogs and is expected to assist Glenelg push ahead in 2013.

Hooper is expected to arrive at Gliderol Stadium in the new year to join his new team mates.

“Andrew is a great recruiting selection for the Glenelg Football Club as he will add further strength, stability and improvement to the forward line” Senior Coach Kris Massie stated, as the club continues to build on its strengths in preparation for the 2013 season.

We all remember his debut in the 2010 Semi Final match against Sydney. He did a few good things that night and I thought he would go on and be an alright player.

                              Re: Andrew Hooper

Hoops was in a program to try to educate him as more of a midfielder , his time spent forward had to have a harder defensive edge , the games he did play he managed to get his stats for defensive pressure acts right up to the top level , he finished the 2011 season and didn't really have the impact that was required of him , he then turned up to Pre-Season training with an unacceptable skinfold test he finished the Pre-Season and started having problems with OP and one or two other niggling injuries

If you take the view that Hoops just didn't push himself up the level required and the Club recruited Nathan Hrovat to replace him on the list giving them an easier body and mind to work with in regards to fitting the player to the position required then, then thats what happened

                              .
