Re: Round 5- Williamstown vs Collingwood
Thanks for the report Greystache.
I really hope Roberts makes it, smart footballer. Hearing him playing well at both ends of the ground is excellent for us.
Prudden is looking the goods too, I thought he might take longer then this.Comment

On the club website there is some highlights of Prudden and Hrovat, although they are mostly Prudden's. His skill by foot got me by surprise. I thought he was a another Mitch Wallis handball in and under specialist but he's very creative by both feet and moves really well.Comment

Pretty impressive by Prudden. He looks a really good size for such a young player already, he's going to have a strong frame in another couple of years. Used his body in contests well to be able to still dispose of it under pressure, which I liked. As you mention Cyberdoggie, his disposal by foot was clinical too. His progress will be interesting, fitness permitting it'd be great to see him crack a few games at AFL level.
I liked Hunter's highlights too. Smart, nippy, creative half forward which we need. The sooner we can develop Stringer, Macrae, Hrovat, Hunter and Prudden the better. All look really promising at this early stage.W00F!Comment

Not trying to question his talent, but you would expect a highliglights reel to only include those instances wher he was super composed and found his target. Otherwise it would be a bloopers reel. The Angels have the phone box. Don't blink!Comment

Re: Round 5- Williamstown vs Collingwood
This was posted very late.
Western Bulldogs' Development Coach Chris Maple casts his eye over how the Bulldogs listed players fared in the VFL win last week against Collingwood.
Josh Prudden: Predominantly played around Luke Ball, Alex Fasolo, guys like that and had 24 possessions and used the ball really well by foot. He really showed a lot of composure but just his willingness to win the footy was fantastic for a first year player.
Fletcher Roberts: Roberts played back for most of the day and was very, very solid as a defender. Read the flight of the ball well and took a lot of intercept marks. Then went forward and had an impact as well in the last quarter.
Lukas Markovic: He was probably the best player for the day. Just defended really well, closed the exits down and he used the ball well. It was just an outstanding defensive game.
Tom Campbell: Continued to rotate between playing forward and ruck. Dominated when he was in the ruck and his follow up work was excellent. We are starting to see Tom mark the ball more as a forward, which is good. His workrate is pretty good as well.
Lachie Hunter: He had 18 possessions and kicked two goals and did really well with his forward pressure and was involved in a lot of scoring chains in the last quarter.
Nathan Hrovat: He had 29 possessions with ten in the last quarter. He used the ball well and again was one of the main driving forces in scoring chains for Williamstown and probably was a major part of why they won.
Daniel Pearce: Pearce started strongly but suffered a slight injury in a tackle during the first quarter. He should be available to play for Williamstown next week.
Development Game:
Alex Greenwood: He was on limited game time but did what he needed to do in his first game back. He will be better for the run.FFC: Established 1883

I saw the match pretty much the same with the exception of Markovic, I really thought he just went, I'm surprised by the praise.Western Bulldogs: We exist to win premiershipsComment

Re: Round 5- Williamstown vs Collingwood
Not worth starting a new thread about but I'm watching the state game between Vic and WA at the moment. Wow watching WA play is like watching a soccer team. I don't think I've ever seen as many dives, simulations, and faking high contact as I've seen in this game. Good to see iit's not just West Coast that does it, the feeder league obviously does too.
Victoria is winning easily however, much stronger physically.Western Bulldogs: We exist to win premiershipsComment

Re: Round 5- Williamstown vs Collingwood
As in you've watched the highlights and didn't see the merit or you just don't like highlights reels? I think you can tell a fair bit from a highlights reel. I wouldn't have said any of the other bulldogs featured in the Willy highlights reel fit that description.'And the Western suburbs erupt!'Comment
