    Womens Round this week.

First bounce for women's footy at the MCG

WITH THE draft done and the national championships completed, the best women footballers in the country will play in the inaugural AFL Women's Exhibition game on Saturday between Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs.

The curtain raiser is the centre-point of the League's Women's Round, and it could also be a glimpse of the future, where each AFL club has a women's representative side.

Really looking forward to this pre-match. My cousin was lucky enough to get drafted at pick 12 by the Dogs. Lauren and her family are all mad keen Bulldog supporters, been in the blood for many years, so an absolute huge thrill for her (and her family) to be wearing the red, white and blue. Go Lauren.

I wish Fox or free to air would pick this game up even if it was on a delay when all the main games have finished. It's a bit of a historical event and even if it's just the once they could promote it to the masses.
When my kids were playing under 12 football their were a couple of girls playing in the comp and I was surprised at how good they were at that level.

I might sit down with my daughter this week and make a flag/banner. Doc26: What is Lauren's full name? We appear to have two — Spark and Arnell.

I'm sure she'd be even more ecstatic to have a red white and blue banner waving for her, and it'd be a good exercise for my daughter.

Love your support and idea. She is Lauren Arnell. Lauren, and her family, who have a Braybrook heritage, are mad keen Bulldog supporters and she is over the moon to get a one off chance to wear the red, white and blue and on the G of all places.

I am aware that this is Lauren Arnell who has been a star in women's football having played in 5 premierships for her powerful Darebin club team. Lauren has also been a regular Victorian State Representaive as well. Her Grandfather Jack Arnell was President of the Braybrook Football Club during its halcyon days of the mid '70's when it won 3 flags in a row with ex Carlton player John Lloyd, father of Matthew, being at the helm as its captain and coach.Patron of the Victorian Women's Football League is prominent Bulldogs board member Sue Alberti, who has been an outstanding ambassador for Women's football.

I find myself ashamedly ignorant of women's football. I watched some matches a few years back and was pretty impressed, but never really got involved.

Does Lauren have a nickname? Will do whatever we can to back in a fellow Dog.

My fifteen year old daughter took up footy this year and is really enjoying it. She is taking part in an exhibition game during the Geelong v Freo game this weekend....

I went to the AFL national coaching convention at Etihad in February. I'd au at least 10 percent of attendees were women. I just hope they all enjoy the involvement as much as the guys do.

I am unsure about a nickname but you will pick her up in the No. 13 jumper. Lauren is one of triplets with a sister and brother. She is fanatical about the Bulldogs and this is a great thrill for her and the family.

Well, the banner manufacturing attempt was a total disaster. Will have to settle for hearing our support, rather than seeing it.
