Campbell looked solid, only 21 y.o? Potential to be a good player in 3 years time at the top level.

I didn't see much else I liked. I thought Pearce, Howard and co. were all pretty average. Not bad, but not good.

This is how they are coached, senior down to VFL level.

            Dumb footy really.
Bombing long to Cordy and Campbell, kicking to wrong spots.
Campbell has the potential to be a good AFL ruckman.
Considering it takes rucks until their mid 20's to mature he looks promising.

We're in a similar situation to Hudson/Minson a couple of years back. Had the ridiculous sub rule not be introduced we might be able to get away with playing Campbell a little more in the Senior squad.

We pretty much play like this in the seniors. I know our forwards have to do more, and we all criticise Cordy, Jones etc , but how are they expected to mark those balls. On the other hand, they need to be more moible and lead into space.

Why do we play like this?

To be fair there was absolutely no space at all in that final quarter. The players outside 50 needed to be smarter with the ball.

BAD, I doubt we'd be coached to bomb the ball though I think we'd likely be coached to try and play as long and directly as possible.

Our issue in the seniors is mainly born from our inability to transition from defense to attack quickly, and its exacerbated by poor foot skills and only having one forward who's an expert at his craft playing for our team (Gia).

The lack of presentation from our forwards hurts us, badly. I think Jones and Cordy will improve over time, but we really need to be faster and cleaner with the football going foward. There aren't many forwards in the league who could consistently impose themselves on the game playing for us as it stands.
                    TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

Exactly. I've said it before, the forwards have to demand the mids honour their leads.
If you kicked five goals and Tom Boyd kicked five goals, Tom Boyd kicked more goals than you.

Austin kept White fairly quiet in the second half. BOG a bit if a stretch though.

Big Tom was great today. For a bloke that's only 22'ish, he's built like a brick proverbial. He has mobility and looked comfortable playing a free role in the forward 50 and roaming further up field when he saw fit. He's our version of Josh Jenkins imo. Next year / later this season I can see him playing the role he played today.

Cordy did some nice things today also, but not at the level Tom did. Both looked good when they didn't have a pigeonholed role - e.g stay deep tall target.

The hit on Young was a disgrace.

How close is Tom Campbell to getting a game?

Not to say he's in the bests every week but seems to be on the right track? Cordy isn't being used as a ruckman, so what happens if (knock on wood) Minson went down... would Campbell step in?
