Obviously the final selections at the Bulldogs affect these, but surprised to see Talia named at this level as I would have considered him an automatic inclusion at the Bulldogs if fit.
Easton Wood on the extended interchange at the Dogs but not named at Willi.

Howard also named in development along with Vesz and Pearce.

Macca rightly seems to give the young guys time in the seniors to look at strengths and weaknesses but then is pretty ruthless at sending them back to the magoos to work on strengthening areas of their game. That's one reason I'm a huge fan of his coaching. He is developing the whole list incredibly methodically in my opinion. There are fundamentals of Talias game he needs to get right now at the start of his career if he is going to go on and be a good quality afl player. It's also better from a work rate point of view as the VFL will be easier on still developing bodies.

On Roberts. There must still be things they've asked for he's not delivering at the moment for him to not be getting any taste at all. I haven't seen enough of him to form a truly balanced judgment. It is, however, the only non selection decision made this year that has me slightly scratching my head albeit he hasn't exactly had any clear breakout games to force the issue with the gulls this year. Maybe that's what they are waiting on...

I rekon 5 of the 6 in the development team will be the delists this year + cross if there is a trade he wants and Gia if he decides to retire. Jong should get another rookie year.

I think Austin's keeping Talia's seat warm to be honest.
Saying that I 'd keep Austin on the list. ( Markovic's in trouble )
Disappointed Prudden hasn't got up,but good to see Hrovat back in the line up.

I think the biggest issue for Roberts has been continuity.

He was injured at the start of the season and has had at least 2 extra multiple week injuries throughout the season.

It seemed that everytime he was getting close he would get hurt again. Think there is plenty of time for big Fletch.

              Interesting.

Not named at Willi but now out of the Bulldogs side.

Perhaps he will be Match Day emergency.

Jones played and kicked 3, named in the best
Markovic named best on ground and MacRae also in the best.
Markovic isn't gonna die wondering, doing what he can to stay on the list.

Was a good captain at Box Hill by all reports, maybe Footscray next year?

Re: Williamstown V North Ballarat Sun 18th at Ballarat

I watched 3 and a half quarters. Horrible, horrible conditions.

Marko was very good. His ability to read the play and take an intercept mark is uncanny at VFL level. Still has a turning circle of the Queen Mary.

Jones couldn't get near it for 3 quarters but stood up in the last with a few big marks and one really clutch set shot.

Howard kicked a good goal in the last but did nothing otherwise.

Will post a bit more later.

                      Adding on from earlier.

Talia was solid in defence without starring. He was very good one on one but didn't provide much rebound.

Redpath took some good intercepting marks as a key defender but whether it's an attitude or fitness thing, his second efforts were disappointing. Will need some luck to stay on the list.

Macrae was named in the bests and he was influential but he looks buggered to me after a long first season. He struggled to run to the interchange bench at one point, flapping his arms with his head tilted back.

Vez was played forward and back and struggled to make an impact. There was one lovely piece of play where he spotted up a target through traffic in the corridor which led to an easy Willy goal. He would have been one of the only guys on the field capable of making that kick. Unfortunately, he doesn't get it enough to show off those flashes of brilliance.

Hrovat was busy and neat considering the conditions but again, didn't have much of an impact over 4 quarters.

Lower was his usual grunty self. At the bottom of most packs. Very good at VFL level and with Wallis doing such a good job as a defensive mid, can't see Lower ever being a mainstay in the top team. Good depth though and will be very handy for Footscray next year.

Cordy played higher up the ground and provided a get out option a few times on the wing with a few strong marks. Not great conditions for the tall blokes but with Campbell doing his thing for the Bulldogs, Ayce will want to put some good performances on the board.

I may have missed a player or 2. Tutt and Roberts didn't play.

Overall, conditions were terrible and didn't allow much flowing football. It was riddled with skill errors and bad decision making.

Marko was probably the most consistent over 4 quarters and Macrae our most damaging but I really think he's cooked physically and would struggle to run out a game at AFL level.

Thanks Comrade and yes I think it's a good idea to keep things simple for Macrae. We don't want to run him into the ground.

I'm assuming Pearce must have played in the development side. Can't wait till next season and greater opportunities for our developing players.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

Sorry, Pearce played in the main game.

He was alright, playing off the half back line. Made a few errors by hand trying to run the ball out but he wasn't alone. I think he's another one that may be lucky to stay on the list next year as he doesn't have enough tricks/weapons to hurt teams.
