I thought that may have been the case. He's still got a job to do regardless of score so it's disappointing to hear.

Just on that D'Marquis, yesterday was the calmest and most pleasant conditions I've ever seen at WO. Not a breath of wind, sunny, warm, and the surface was perfect. It made me sick!!

Disgusting. This is the big problem with equalisation. While I'm sure the big clubs can, we can't even afford for our VFL team (if required) to have mud on the ground, wind machines or rain machines on the players and the crowd. The VFL and AFL don't want us to have a home ground advantage. I hope we disabled the hot water from the Richmond change rooms at a minimum.

The way they melted under pressure, it'd be better to disable the cold.

Very enjoyable morning at Whitten Oval. Took my young bloke down and enjoyed the atmosphere. Was a bit hard to focus 100% on the footy with my 3 year old there - but we moved the ball really well. Ayce moved the best I've seen him and actually raised his arms above his head a few times and marked it (Amazing what can happen if a 204cm man puts his arms up!).

Richmond obviously have no depth. They were way off the pace.

Didn't make it to the game but that was my immediate thought after seeing the score. Worrying signs for their side getting done by that margin in the first game against a fellow start-up.

Spoke with Richmond mate and he thinks across the 2 teams (AFL &VFL) there would have been 8-10 players not playing on the weekend which makes it tough.

We probably had 4 or 5 out so if you doubled that figure we might struggle too... But he did say he didn't expect their VFL team to do all that well.

Like with any AFL aligned club it will come down to injuries.

I would expect Footscray to be in the top half of the ladder at the end of the year though, behind sides like
                    Box Hill, Geelong, Port Melbourne.

There will be some very one sided games, as there are a few very week sides. I'm sure we will be talking up how many goals Cordy kicks against Bendigo or Coburg.

Knowing they had their first 2 ruckmen injured, and 2 key defenders out, I'm assuming that the majority of the injured players are talls. The team Richmond fielded on the weekend was heavily undersized. Their ruckman came was at least 10cm shorter than Campbell, and their full back came up to Cordy's underarm.

Yeah Todd Elton would be that tall, think he usually plays more as a forward than a ruckman.

I think they had no choice as all the talls were in the firsts plus Hampson injured.
