Smith's disposal is fine, awkward style hasn't changed.
Darley didn't notice that much.
Didn't do enough for a listed player in a 170 point win. Did some good things here and there.Comment

Re: ANZAC DAY CLASH - Bendigo Gold v Footscary Bulldogs - 6.30pm
I haven't watched them until tonight. I heard they did OK against Essendon the week before so I thought it would be a little closer. Thought to break the strangle hold the BFL has on this town, throw some players in from that league and they'd be competitive. BFL is always going to be top priority.
But to tonight, and from the last game (practise match at Epsom 6 weeks back) I wouldn't have minded Fort being a rookie. It looks like there's something there, albeit raw.Rocket Science: the epitaph for the Beveridge era - whenever it ends - reading 'Here lies a team that could beat anyone on its day, but seldom did when it mattered most'. 15/7/2023Comment

I would think so. I think once people get over a couple of wobbly kicks a game, they'll see a champion one day. There's just so much to like about him as a player, and a leader. Kicked a few goals tonight too.Rocket Science: the epitaph for the Beveridge era - whenever it ends - reading 'Here lies a team that could beat anyone on its day, but seldom did when it mattered most'. 15/7/2023Comment

I found the topic if the VFL to be divisive. Some like them, some love them and some hate that they would skim the best talent out of the local league.

He was OK. I remember thinking at half time The Maccas got holding on to Tutty for one more year right, and the Howard extension maybe not so. But that said, like everyone else, he won his position so perhaps take the silver lining?Rocket Science: the epitaph for the Beveridge era - whenever it ends - reading 'Here lies a team that could beat anyone on its day, but seldom did when it mattered most'. 15/7/2023Comment

Game and players aside, just going to the footy to see Footscray is as enjoyable as many other things in life. While the game wasn't a fair contest, I must admit I enjoyed the experience, in a pure sense more than I can remember for a long, long time. I can't really articulate it properly, it just was.Rocket Science: the epitaph for the Beveridge era - whenever it ends - reading 'Here lies a team that could beat anyone on its day, but seldom did when it mattered most'. 15/7/2023Comment

I think I know what you mean. The couple of games that I've been to at Whitten Oval have had a carnival atmosphere to them. In a way it goes way beyond just being a football match, it's Footscray playing again after more than a decade and a half in mothballs.
It's like winning or losing doesn't mean as much as the fact that Footscray are back and playing out of the Whitten oval. They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.Comment

I didn't go, but I was going to respond with the same thing.
I cannot wait for Clay Smith to come back into the senior team. Perhaps we should give him a few more weeks in the VFL and bring him in after our bye in round 10 V the Gold Coast Suns.More of an In Bruges guy?Comment
