For a long while I was all alone saying a Grant could be like Stevie Johnson, and travelling a like path of SJ where when the penny drops we will marvel. For Bob Murphy to say he tells Jarrad at training that JG's best is the best he has ever played on is telling what we could get.

I often read about how our AFL side must play the youngsters as it's the only way to develop them. I'm having a good look at this game and I firmly believe that the development of players can occur playing for Footscray.

Right at this stage of his career does getting 20 touches in a half playing for Footscray really stymie the development of Bontempelli compared to him being on the bench for the seniors?

I'm really pleased with the development of our players and I hope during the season when players are being dropped back to Footscray it isn't always seen as a negative.

Well said, I have thought the same in the games I've watched for Footscray this year. It's just fantastic that the club has been proactive about this, the difference in the performance of players is remarkable from Williamstown to Footscray.

Strange isn't it. At least 3 times he had a chance to have a crack, refused to do so, passed to a teammate under pressure, turnover, ball heads outside 50. Looks much better in ruck but has also taken a few actual MARKS (omg) in the backline. Wonder if we should do a roughy with him? He has good attributes but still a long way to go as a forward.

Redpath has improved. Not just the goals; positioning and work rate both good.

Talia has been horrid. Likewise Young. As much as I'm enjoying this game our backline has zero depth. I don't want a forward this draft, we need the best backmen we can find. Still hope Talia will be best 22 longterm but I'm glad he's not playing tonight even if we get stretched.
