For the first time I reckon he's attacking the contest with some authority. The light still flickers.
I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.

      What a terrific game
Honeychurch has just smashed the front door in
Thought Cordy and Campbell were prominent as well as Stringer.( he is a beast) and will be a handful when he gets AFL fit.
Lachie Hunter also had a decent game, and it's high time these players were picked in the senior side.
Even Fuller got a few touches, and Lin Jong had a very good game.
Redpath was decent without starring. Talia was solid without being prominent.
Young to me looks a back up type, and I worry one on one and his decision making.
Howard was okay, but he looks more comfortable at the lower level.
Ditto Goodes. Darley didn't get much of it, but looks a good decision maker and kick.
Roberts was solid. Didn't notice Pearce.
Of the non listed players thought Lower was BOG and Russell had a decent game.
Love the mix of good leaders and younger WRFL players and our list.
      Liked our gamestyle as well

Perhaps Bmac can ask Chris Maple if he can borrow it for the AFL side. Along with a few players to help implement it.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

          It'd be nice.

We played a VFL team today. A good one, but still a VFL team. I was really happy with the way we worked numbers around the ball, but made sure once it was in open space we scored through decisive ball movement.

I have no doubt that's the plan for the senior team. It's just a lot harder to execute at senior level.

We have some very good kids on our list.
          TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

It seems as though the VFL team is playing the game style that we eventually want to implement do that the younger players can learn it, while the seniors are concentrating on not being blown to smithereens.

Honeychurch was born with a ball In his hand, amazing , I watched him in an earlier game at whitten oval, he owned that game, how the hell he lasted to 60 is a mystery.
Had a close look at him yesterday he is very defined though very small, give him another year in the gym he will explode in AFL next year, this kid is another Macrae but harder.
Probably Hrovat with more ball getting ability.
Over the years I saw players in their first game and knew they were champs (Hawkins, Templeton, Grant) Honeychurch gives me that feel

Good post ledge. I wondered how he had lasted so long too.

It's like he's gotten a kick up the arse by starting to think "am I going to get picked tonight" on draft day so he's working extra hard.

Watched the game yesterday & gee Stringer was hugely impressive. Loves the physical stuff & can't wait to see him spend some time in the midfield in the seniors.
Honeychurch is impressive as well, just a smart user of the footy & we certainly need more of them.
These 2 have to come in next week.

Not trying to put him under great expectations but I thought there was a bit of Chris Judd with the in close stuff.
Stringer has good core strength and can stand up in tackles and still effectively dispose of the ball.
This of course is going on yesterday effort.

I love his second efforts. There was one in the last quarter where he went up for a specky, spilled the ball fell on the ground then bobbed up with it all in seemingly one big motion.

The Footscray Bulldogs scored a stirring victory over VFL leaders Port Melbourne by 36 points on Saturday.
On a muddy North Port Oval, the Bulldogs advanced to six wins and three losses, inflicting Port Melbourne’s second defeat for the season.

The first term saw the Bulldogs kick 7.0 to the Borough’s 4.1 thanks to dominance at the clearances.
The Footscray midfield worked to contain dangerous onballers James Magner, Shane Valenti and Chris Cain in the first term, allowing Nick Lower and Brett Goodes to control the stoppages.
Inside attacking-50, Lachie Hunter and Mitch Honeychurch menaced the Borough’s defence at ground level while Jack Redpath showed clean hands overhead.

After conceding the first goal of the match to Magner, Footscray kicked the next four.
By the end of the term, Honeychurch, Hunter and David Iaccarino had two goals apiece.

It was Daniel Connors who provided a target for Port Melbourne and kept the home side within touch. The athletic midfielder played deep in attack, booting two opening-quarter goals.
Footscray’s 17-point quarter-time lead quickly whittled away as Connors continued to plague the Dogs’ defence in term two. By the time he kicked his second of the quarter and fourth of the match, the Borough had levelled the scores at 8.1 (49) apiece.

But Footscray rallied as versatile defender Jordan Russell was moved onto Connors late in the term. The Bulldogs kicked three of the quarter’s last four goals to establish an 11-point half-time lead.
Port Melbourne opened the second half in imperious fashion, snaring three quick goals and wresting back the lead.
Connors again found himself at the centre of attention after soaring for a spectacular aerial grab inside-50. Unfortunately for the hosts, he missed the resultant set shot and the Bulldogs remained in the game with the Borough’s lead peaking at nine points.

A strong Redpath mark and goal from a chance inside-50 lifted Footscray. It was to be the first of four successive Bulldogs goals to end the quarter.
Holding a 14-point three-quarter time lead, the Bulldogs sensed the moment and applied ferocious pressure at the contests throughout an impressive fourth term.

Footscray was rewarded with four final-quarter goals to one.
Honeychurch was scintillating with three opportunist goals for the term while Jake Stringer notched up his third goal for the match on his way to nearly 30 possessions.

Russell kept the dangerous Connors goalless in the second half and Fletcher Roberts was again rock-solid in defence throughout the match.
Captain Nick Lower was another standout, as coach Chris Maple reflected.
“His leadership today on field was really good. He cracked in at the ball and tackled hard, and his smother in front of the grandstand to set up a goal was a great example to our young guys”, Maple said.

Maple also described his side’s approach while speaking after the match.
“Playing the top team at their home ground, they’re renowned for their contested ball and that was a good challenge for us”, he said.
“We went in with a plan to combat the way they play around stoppages… I thought our boys were very disciplined in the way they went about it.”

Footscray takes on Collingwood next week on Sunday afternoon.

Enjoyed hearing Chris Maple during the quarter huddle encouraging his players to use the "Bulldogs spirit" and I think he also said something about "your Bulldogs brothers". Impressive coach too.

                                This from BF

Also was impressed by Maple's three quarter time message - deep inside 50's to one on ones, don't over-commit at the ground contests, have blokes crumbing, shut down the corridor defensively. Don't overuse the dinky handball. Exactly what our AFL team needs to do!!
If you kicked five goals and Tom Boyd kicked five goals, Tom Boyd kicked more goals than you.
