Fred would have quite a story to tell and i'm really looking forward to reading it.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

He even lived with Dennis Allen at one stage , doesn't get lower than that, no idea how he survived that let alone got his head together to write a book

Back on Fred Cook - according to Wiki (every UNI students referencing tool) he had a heart attack at during a game but continued playing?

Give him a wiki. He hails from Pettingill lineage from memory. Probably one of the dangerous and psychopathic Australian gangland hitmen ever, including Benji in the list. Drug dealer of some repute too. Apparently dead set psychopathic if you believe the stories.

DA went under the nickname mr Death. He was Melbourne's biggest speed dealer back in he '80s. He was also one if Melbourne's biggest speed users which tended to make him a bit erratic and unstable.

Crazy bastard owned more than a fifty houses in Richmond alone. Kath Pettingil said he went down to the deli one Saturday and bought two houses on the way there and back.

Tara Moss had that series of Australian criminals and they had an episode on Dennis, wouldn't be surprised if an underbelly was done on this guy.. Be plenty of books and info on him.
For Fred Cook to survive just living with this guy was a miracle.
Psychotic who would shoot you for just looking at him.

Fred was coach down at FIT one year , sometimes wouldn't even turn up at training or games.

There was a TV series from a couple of years ago, Killing Time, that was based on the life and times of underworld lawyer Andrew Fraser. It heavily chronicled Fraser's relationship with Dennis Allen and the Pettingill's. Allen was played by Richard Cawthorne and Fraser by David Wenham - suffice to say it was an excellent series. Lewis Moran and Victor Pierce also get a run in the series.

Well worth watching if you haven't done so already.

It is good. I got the DVD because the series came and went with such little fanfare that I missed it.

I think Ben Mendelssohn's character "Pope" in the movie "Animal Kingdom" was also not so loosely based on Dennis Allen... And the Pettingill family.
