Saints may trade their top pick - Should we offer up a trade

St Kilda will consider trading the first pick in the national draft if it finishes on the bottom, as the club explores all avenues available to rebuild the playing list and bring success. And the Saints, who sit on the bottom and are short odds to remain there, will discuss whether they approach the AFL about a priority draft pick – which the AFL can grant to a club, but would likely be at the end of the first round, if at all – ‘‘in the coming weeks’’.

Nup. I doubt we've got anything we want to trade thats remotely around that price.

Maybe pick 5 and Roughie could get their attention, but I wouldn't(and we can't afford to lose him anyway) to trade him.
    The curse is dead.

Their requirement would be around young players or multiple draft picks. I'm a fan of McCartin but I'm not sure he is a player I would over pay for.

What a joke if the AFL does anything other than laugh at them.
I should leave it alone but you're not right

We should offer them Campbell as a straight swap and they'd do it because they seem determined to ruin their list by making horrendous trades with top picks for ruckmen every year.

Trading with St Kilda is a gross advantage 17 other clubs have and the league seriously needs to address it at the next equalisation conference.

I think St Kilda does have a case to put to the AFL about getting a priority pick. Their list doesn't look strong and an end of first round pick might just given them some currency to improve it.

Last week the coach comes out and says we are under no illusions were we are etc and we will go to the draft and build from there.
Now there is talk of trading pick one? If one pick is untouchable surely it's pick one?

Melbourne traded pick 2 for pick 9 and a player (Tyson) - that's the type of trade the Saints would look at.

GWS may entertain something like this as they have the kids who are talented but fringe.

When I read that, my thoughts were roughly "firetruck off".

No way do they deserve a priority pick.

They were in grand finals just 3 years ago. They also chose to get rid of Ball, Goddard & Dal Santo. Much of their demise is their own undoing.

                      Agree wholeheartedly.

They threw everything at their tilt and are now paying the price.

I'm actually pissed that they are likely to end up with another gun KPP falling into their lap because they have bottomed out at the right time again.

They should be counting their lucky stars.

Agree with both of these posts.

Absolutely no way can St. Kilda build a justified case.

Would have to be something like pick 5 and Hrovat for pick 1. Too hard to stomach for mine.

Not even worth listening to St Kilda if they pitched that at us. I don't see McCartin like Boyd last year, it's the currency of the best kid and pick 5 plus a rising star player is not worth it.
