Perhaps Freo looking at the Saints number one pick in exchange for???
Maybe we have something similar in mind. Which is what makes the point of the thread as there very limited chance he would slip to us based on current likely picks.

What could we offer the Saints to get a 5 pick upgrade?

I doubt they would want Liam Jones.

They are most likely looking for a good midfielder or a ruckman. What about Tom Campbell.

St Kilda already have 2 young promising ruckmen in Hickey and Longer, doubt they are in the market for another.

Last year pretty much every club met with Boyd so it's no surprise most/all would meet with McCartin too. Might not be a locked #1 pick but he's close and a KPF so there's enough similarity with Boyd.

As for what clubs get out of meeting them now rather than at the Draft Combine, clubs want to meet the family and have a longer conversation with the player and their family in a more relaxed setting than the Combine offers. Perhaps clubs feel they can get a better idea of their character when the walls are down and it's more of a conversation than an interview.

Can anyone here please tell me how good McCartin is?
How does he stack up against Patton or Boyd.
He's only one centimetre taller than Stringer, so is he the 'answer'?.
If we were somehow able to manoeuvre our selves into the right draft position is he worth it?
Or are we better of using trades and picks on a spread of talent rather than McCartin? I don't really have any idea how good he is?

We might end up behind Brisbane which would move us up to pick 4. That would only leave St Kilda more than likely in the market for a key forward tall, and they need quality mids every bit as much as a key forward - they've lost Ball, Lenny, Dal Santo and Goddard in recent years, with only Montagna remaining from their top 4 era. Dunstan looks good but they still need much more midfield talent

Not that I am a great judge, but from what I have read, he is nowhere near as dominant as those other guys were in there years.

They are both a lot bigger, and understandably more dominant against other kids
If you kicked five goals and Tom Boyd kicked five goals, Tom Boyd kicked more goals than you.

Freo will visit everyone on their list.

He is - quite simply - the best of them(in terms of being a full forward). The others all played a lot of ruck as a junior - McCartin is lead out, take a mark, kick a goal. He is strong, he is quick, he has great hands...and he is willing to hurt opposition players. He was injured for a lot of the champs this year but he is unbelievable.

With that kind of description MJP, would someone like a Fevola be a reasonable comparison in terms of how he plays on field?

mjp, you've seen him play and you would have seen Patton at the same age ... Are they comparable?

I would prefer we throw the kitchen sink at Patton (if his health is worth it) than have a shot at McCartin and wait three/four years for him to be ready.

MJP when you say Them do you mean the 3 boys who have gone to GWS or this years draft crop?
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.
