Re: Dogs Meeting McCartin
I'm not sure who he/she is, but theyre getting multiple mentions so I will take it they're a reliable judge. That said, he/she and I must be watching different Zaine Cordy's playing this year. Mark Zaine down, it's whether it's 25 or 45.Rocket Science: the epitaph for the Beveridge era - whenever it ends - reading 'Here lies a team that could beat anyone on its day, but seldom did when it mattered most'. 15/7/2023Comment

Re: Dogs Meeting McCartin
He had this to say re. Zaine Cordy on Wednesday & hasn't included him in his top 55 picks
Cordy could be worth picking but I'd say like Foster more as a rookie for me.
He reminds me a little of Tyson Goldsack as a defender. Has key position height but not key position size. Gives good effort and has a crack but probably more a 3rd tall as a negating type at the next level. If you kicked five goals and Tom Boyd kicked five goals, Tom Boyd kicked more goals than you.

Thanks GG. I actually think Zaine could play more like Bobby, he actually reminds me a bit of him. I agree he's tall and slender, but he can run, shimmy and by my stats very good by hand and foot. I should stop talking him up. Yep, a rookie at best. As for Fossie, he's leading the TAC goal kicking and someone like Carlton could force a low pick, but as a rookie I'd be stoked too.Rocket Science: the epitaph for the Beveridge era - whenever it ends - reading 'Here lies a team that could beat anyone on its day, but seldom did when it mattered most'. 15/7/2023Comment

Re: Dogs Meeting McCartin
As nice as it would be to get McCartin, isn't he "undersized" height wise by today's standards of what people think a KPF should be? His stats are basically the same as Stringer. 192cm and 92kg, vs 192cm and 91kg for Stringer. I've noticed that many people on this board say that Stringer isn't a KPF due to his size, yet if you look at some of the current key forwards in the competition their height is basically the same as Stringers. Pavlich (192), Roughead (193), and the cry baby we are playing this week (193).
I know the other arguement regarding Stringer is that he doesn't play as a FF, yet he has been playing there a lot since coming back into the side, and although he does tend to get more goals from crumbing, he has shown that he has good hands and can mark on the lead. He's also good body to body. He does need to work on his set shots though, which seem to have gone down since last year when his kicking looked really good.
I'm not saying we shouldn't try go for a KPF like a McCartin in the draft or through trading, I just don't see why Stringer can't become the KPF we need. On a different note, i think our KPD are more of an issue atm than our forwards.Doing my best to use emojis more frequently :oComment

Foster is a year older than the other kids isn't he? He was allowed another year at TAC cup levelThey say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.Comment

Re: Dogs Meeting McCartin
He is certainly big enough to be a key forward at the AFL level. Good leap and mobile. The question is more around how he will go when the ball hits the ground. I'm guessing here but he would be either 1st or 2nd on our wish list.Western Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment

Re: Dogs Meeting McCartin
I suppose the question is more: if McCartin is big enough, why isn't Stringer? The guy who has kicked 16 goals in our last 6 games playing from full-forward. Stringer's presence reminds me of Carey.'And the Western suburbs erupt!'Comment

Re: Dogs Meeting McCartin
Stringer is more the Brad Johnson type, a threat both on the ground and aerially but not a pack marker.I should leave it alone but you're not rightComment

Re: Dogs Meeting McCartin
In that time he's taken a grand total of 3 contested marks and 14 marks overall, that's a weeks work for Carey. He's a beauty at ground level but I want a full forward to clunk the footy and split packs. If we were taking a full forward on purely how many goals they kick Lindsay Thomas would be high on the list. I'm a Jake fan and he has enough quality to be good anywhere but he isn't the missing piece to our forward line.Comment

If we can find the KPF we need, it'll be scary how dangerous the likes of Stringer will become.W00F!Comment
