Foster had a good game and kicked 7 from my count. He is performing well but still has a lot to learn. Once the game was out of reach I was chatting to a couple guys who knew their footy.

McPherson didn't have a lot of impact. Langford was impressive but I don't think he got a lot of it. Wright is a top 5 prospect

Re: Northern knights v Calder Canons

Foster got 6 goals and Wright 4. The game was a good standard but time and time again players looked for other options before they had the ball in their hands. So many players fumbled the ball when they were in the clear.

Wright was excellent, moves so well and has a thumping kick. If I am to be critical of him he doesn't use his size effectively and really impose himself physically. I'm not sure how he will test at the draft combine but his running for a guy of his size is exceptional. He never looked out of wind.

Langford for the Knights was a standout for them. Played mainly as a forward and his delivery into the forward 50 was impressive. At 190cm he can play a number of different roles.

Isn't there an unwritten rule in under 18s you can't tag ? Makes it hard to measure a player in AFL I would presume.
Players can look like stars but once they are tagged could struggle.
Scully and Wallis might be an example of that.

That's why I really enjoy under 18's footy. Plus kids are showing every bit of flare and talent to get drafted, makes for good footy in my estimation. Jayden must be a lock now at a price to be determined, he kicks goals with or without another tall option. If you'd said Jayden would probably top the TAC goal kicking, and missing a few games, we'd have taken that.

Just had a gander on BF and the list of leading goal kickers is underwhelming to say the least.
Going to be interesting when nominations happen

Ah, BF... Top kids don't play all TAC games with champs etc. Jayden missed a few games too this year, if you take his average from a month into the season he'd have to be averaging about 4 goals a game, his accuracy stats might just tell another nice tale too.

They just went on past goal kicking winners.
Besides Membrey, never heard of any of them.

Without reading too much, I'd guess they're possibly bigger kids who could monster other kids but recruiters were able to deduce that those kids were not going to able to generate scoring shots that way in the next level and therefore not a good enough package. Purely a guess though. I don't think anyone is thinking Jayden is anywhere near a perfect package, but his recent form has put his name out there. Who knows Calder are a good shot to get the flag, some performances in finals and a good combine and who knows what happens, or he re-injures his foot... Life's a lottery!

Re: Northern Knights v Calder Cannons

He sounds like he making some good in roads from where he was a year or so ago. Like BT says he's putting his name out there. Hopefully he doesn't play too good though because we want him on the cheap.

We have to be careful not to let the romance of all these f/s prospects get in the way of picking other more talented kids up. It all sounds nice having Foster, Hunter, Wallis a couple of Cordy brothers, Liberatore all playing together, but we must make sure they fit the profile or type of player for the team we are trying to build. I don't remember their dad's playing in premierships for us, close but no premierships. In saying that we have snared a couple of rippers so far. But if we were to pass on Foster I think it would hurt to see him play for say Essendon and become a Champion. This is why I'm happy to just pay my membership and let the recruiters worry about this sort of stuff. And if they get it wrong we can rip into them on forums such as this.
They've done studies you know, 60% of the time, it works every time!

I'll back the recruiters in as well.

Would you use anything higher than a rookie pick on Foster if our hand was forced, G, if that?

A mate just contacted me to say that The TAC footy show has moved Wright to the number one spot and Langford into the top 10.
