I have training for a new job at 5pm, so I am hoping like hell that the draft starts as late as possible!

I think so, unless they are tinkering with it. I hope we stay with pick 1 being first and not that top 10 countdown. I missed last years on account of hospitalisation, did Foxtel do it well again. Two years back I quite liked the coverage, interviews, analysis etc. Made for a good show.

It was back to normal last year. Far better to.

I hope we've got the budget to send up the media team up there. It's a small thing, but seeing the kids who were present in the jumpers together is something I like. I like hearing from the recruiters too, although it seems to be uniform lately, 'we didn't expect **** to still be there, so it's a great result'.

The nature of taking "the best available" will always have those stories. Teams will rate players differently so for us this year with 3 2nd round selections it's not out of the question to have a player we rate at say 18 being available at 26 so we would be right in being chuffed that he is still there.

You basically can't walk out of the day without getting players you regard as a bargain at your picks unless we are in synch with most other teams. I'm sure there will be a club or two pick pocket a player at a pick or two before our selection but with so many players already selected via father son or academy picks a lot of the draft is already set.

Given we don't have a top 10 pick we won't see the Bontempelli type presentation on the night. I'm not sure how many players will be invited but none of our picks might make the trip.

I thought the GC centre holds a few hundred people, and the expected kids get invites and so a fair few families make the journey. Either way, I like it. With a team that needs as many positive and exciting photos and videos to keep momentum I hope we capitalise. As for the comments, I'm jaded by years of Clayton saying the Stevie Tiller's would be a top 10 pick if left to the next year and Jesse Wells are the next big things. Not having a dig, it's just pretty pedestrian commentary.

Ah yes that old chestnut, I believe he said the same re: O'Shea although I could be wrong.

Ridiculous comments to say the least.

It worked for a few years but it was just spin. As TBB pointed out there were a lot of players we projected as being potential top 10 selections for the next draft.

He said something similar about Wayde Skipper.

                          Cam Wight too.

What did happen to Cam wight? I remember eade saying after our west coast semifinal loss in 2007 we might hAve found a player. His 2007 preseason started well and he got his injured and just could not get back to the team. I might be a year or two out with my recollections
                            Edited correction on ac semifinal

He had a career best game that year against St. Kilda IIRC. The one where Griffen and Cooney ran wild after they got an initial jump on us.

I can't really remember what happened to Wight after that. Wight had some OK tools, but he lacked strength and agility - his turning circle/change of direction was as slow as I've seen. He had some mongrel in him, a long reach and was reasonably quick for his size in a straight line but his weaknesses found him out in the end.

Just looked it up and the game against St. Kilda was actually in 2008, Round 3.
