Re: What are you listening to at the moment
A lot of good bands have come from Athens. It's a uni town with a real arty scene. REM, B52s, Pylon, Drive-By Truckers.
I think with The Cramps, they were produced by the great Alex Chilton in Memphis, but probably weren't from there originally. In other words, dunno.
I reckon I was at that gig at the Club (mid-late 80s?). The same week (maybe the week later) I saw Stan Ridgeway at The Venue. He eventually hit the stage at 2.30 am, a complete mess. The crowd loved it. Couldn't get away with that today. Lux and Stan would've been quite the double act.Comment

Re: What are you listening to at the moment
Chapel Hill, North Carolina is another small college town with a rich lineage of quality bands from the same era (early to mid 90's). Archers of Loaf, Superchunk, Ben Folds Five, Polvo, Small 23 to name a few. The locals would have been spoilt for gigs at the time."Look at me mate. Look at me. I'm flyin'"Comment

The Replacements Alex Chilton
And don't mention that Stan Ridgeway gig, we had our names on the door but something came up, I can't remember even what it was, but we got stuck somewhere without transport back to Melbourne and then spent the next six months listening to mates telling us how *!*!*!*!ing great Stan Ridgeway was. They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.Comment
