    Favourite Pianist/Keyboard Player

Another thread reference Eddie Van Halen and keyboards. Got me thinking about your favourite pianist or keyboard player, any genre of music from anytime in human history.

For me, I'm not a classics man like Beethoven or Mozart (I know, I know, breathe and relax from this big surprise). So watching older movies growing up a few stand out but I won't steal them all. So, particularly Ray Charles in The Blues Brothers putting 'some action into this keyboard' and his character being prepared to 'throw in the black keys for free'. And I'm always, always amazed watching Chico (of the Marx Brothers) and his unique style. Particularly in 'A Night at The Opera'.

My favourite is terms of loving their music and his sheer brilliance is 90's rocker, Ben Folds. I remember being home the day he smashed up Geoff Harvey's own piano on The Midday Show, and the shocked look on Harvey's face was hilariously priceless. Ben would later say he thought it was one of their pianos from the tour and didn't know it was Harvey's.

Ben Folds easily. That Midday stuff was just so funny.

    This is amazing.

Agreed. I think his K-Tel years were his best,

                Thread needs more Don Walker.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Rick Wakeman's work on Hunky Dory is pretty special. Not sure there are too many better piano riffs than the one on 'Life on Mars'

Rick Wright - Pink Floyd, when he had influence in the band up until Wish You Were Here album he was responsible for some of their greatest tunes like Us and Them & Great Gig in the Sky from Dark Side of the Moon. however, he regarded the Wish You Were Here album as the Floyds best. He was jazz inspired yet was a pioneer with synthesizers and keyboard soundscaping.

                              Stevie Wonder - brilliant keyboardist
Billy Joel - ultimate pub piano man in his early days

Cory Henry from Snarky Puppy, loves a hammond
                              Listening to Brahm's 3rd Racket
