    Russell Gilbert

We all know and love Russell , a true footscray larrikin who made it.
He is red white and blue through and through
We know of his struggles after his Partner passed.
Him and Doug Hawkins are the epitome of the West
Recently he did a gig and his sister Ellie May was a huge help in nursing him back to health, they were very close.
If your grew up in the 80s in braybrook you knew Ricky , Russell and Ellie or came across them at some stage.
I was lucky enough to know them all and be in the same class as Ellie through braybrook high.
Sadly today I heard Ellie passed away, I imagine some here would have known Ellie and to be honest it’s blown me away.
Ellie was a lovely lady loved her family and her horses.
56 is just way to young.
Russell has had a hard couple of years and now this just breaks yout heart. stay strong Russell we are all here for you and your family.

Yeah I knew Ellie. She was the same age as me.

    That's terrible news.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

That is such tragic news. Poor Russell. My heart goes out to him and his family.

Very sad. Way too young. My thoughts are with Russell, the family and friends.

Man he's had a terrible couple of years.

First his partner, now his biggest supporter.

Been lucky enough to meet Russell a few times and he's wonderful to be around.

I caught up with him as he walked past the social club outside a couple of years ago before the passing of his partner we had a good chat but he was on his way to a function so didn’t manage to have a beer with him.
Ellie was involved in horses in the country, Rick was still driving trucks, friend of mine is a comedian at the comics lounge and does a few gigs with Russell I usually get mail from him about Russell but this came from a school friend who was still catching up with her.
I’m still shocked to be honest. 56 years old and school friends are passing away I guess we are at an age it’s going to happen.

Three of the boys from our graduating class have been murdered so far. Four of the boys were charged with murder so it almost evens itself out. The most recent one being Borce Ristevski.

Four went back to the civil war in Yugoslavia and perished at the hellhole that was Srebrenica-I couldn't imagine a worse fate than being stuck on either side of a siege. Four of the boys were charged with murder so it sort of evens itself out.

RIP Jack, Andrew, Butch and Ismael.

3 have been murdered, and 4 have allegedly murdered someone? And 4 others died in a civil war? Geez louise.

The best story is the one who copped a bullet in the back of the head in LA while sitting in a convertable in a car park engaged in an act of in flagrante delicto with someone else's wife.

The bullet came from the aggrieved husband.

It was only a month or so ago that a young Albanian couple living around the corner from us were shot by the bride's dad. They'd only been married for a couple of months and dad turns up with a shotty. Kills them both, puts a bullet into his own head but it doesn't kill him. He lays on the ground for a couple of minutes then stands up and puts another bullet in his skull and I think the bastard is still alive!

Hang on, did I just called out by a Braybrook boy for being violent?

You'd have loved hanging with me. I always looked out for my wingmen, cocaine and hookers all round!!!!

Funny you know I never encountered drugs but got shot by an air gun once walking through skinner reserve to the shops, sadly I had some issues when younger and spent some time in the psych ward at footscray due to some gun antics in my 20s (woman related) hookers well jazzy O was a frequent in most footy clubs in the area.

I'm off to the Harvester centre myself tomorrow to see a psychotherapist. Ask Barry, he's kn own me for years. He will tell you that I'm as mad as a march hare.

I shot one of my cousins once with a slug gun up at Castlemaine. He was giving me the shits and I warned him. Twice. Then I put a pellet in his leg to shut him up. Funnily enough it didn't shut him up. If anything he started to make more noise.
