Pakenham (where the metro trains terminate) is about 60kms from the CBD and that's the issue down this way - the south east suburbs extend so far (and will extend further - big estates are planned on the eastern side of Pakenham towards Nar Nar Goon) that whether by rail or road you hit congestion a long way out.
The congestion in the Dandenong-Narre Warren-Berwick-Pakenham corridor is horrendous. It's basically hundreds of thousands of people bottlenecking at the same point because the infrastructure isn't there to deal with that many people. There's really only 1 way in and 1 way out. These were farming towns that had the classic one north-south road and one east-west. It's still basically the same today.

The city started to the east and thought about the west as an afterthought. It's why we are born in blood and boots.

The new Metro tunnel is designed for Pakenham line, so that should help when that is done.

Unfortunately we have had successive state governments that just ignored public transport with Kennet closing down many country lines. I am not pushing Dan, whatever you think of him, but the first thing that had to be done was get rid of crossings and that is well on the way. Crossings prohibit the number of trains that can be on the rail at once.

Currently we have the Metro train project, plus starting the airport train project and the project to link lines through the eastern suburbs. Hopefully all these continue as Melbourne's population sitting on 5.16 million and very close to Sydney's 5.3 million.

Public Transport infrastructure should have started 30 plus years ago including Melton/Sunbury.

A Ghost, I thought you were off the substances (sorry just a joke)
Ironically it was while I was doing a rehab intake! We (nurse and 2 patients) went for a walk with when we spotted someone watching us from a third floor window. We asked the nurse if it might have been a squatter and he said "no it can't be. Just yesterday the cops went through the whole building, removed all the squatters and locked the building up securely" just as he said it the woman disappeared-she didn't walk away-she just disappeared.

When we got back we told one of the other nurses and she described the woman to us and asked if we saw her at a third floor window. When we said that it was she said "yep she's a ghost"
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

They exist, I don't care what anyone says. I can't explain it.

I saw one at an old Melbourne establishment at which I used to work, and this establishment actually formed part of the Melbourne Ghost Tour fifteen to twenty years ago.

When you know that's what you've seen you can't escape the physical feeling you get when you see it.
              TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

Exactly! It was the way she left. She didn't walk away or back up or anything like that, she didn't step back she just dematerialized. It started at the bottom of the window sill and she just disappeared.

We all looked at each other and sort of said "whoah! Did you see that?" Then we said we must have been imagining it and she was a squatter but the nurse was quite insistent that the police had cleared everyone in he building out the day before for safety reasons and had locked it up tight so nobody else could get back in again.

I know what I saw and it wasn't someone who walked away from a window. And the nurse at the unit just glibly saying that the old psych hospital is well known to be haunted and asking if we saw her at a third floor window was pretty weird too.

A couple of months after my dad died I was shutting the back gate at his house and being the mature type I am I rode with the gate shut. As I got off it and turned around dad was standing there and said "what have I told you before about riding that *!*!*!*!ing gate?"

Still a skeptic. I’ve done numerous ghost tours and haven’t seen the slightest sign of anything.

I’m open to the idea of them existing but need to see one with my own eyes first.

I don't know if ghost tours are actually supposed to have ghosts on them...........

Anyway, I understand the skepticism. I don't have another word other than ghost to describe what I saw and when I saw what I saw a colleague did as well, and two other colleagues pulled us up on it because we both immediately looked like we'd seen a ghost. There's a reason that's a saying.

Geez. How many more than 5gs do you need?

History. It's a way of selling the history of an area or a building or something without people saying "but I hate history/what's the point of history?"

For instance Fisher's ghost isn't about a ghost sitting on a bridge. It's about Fisher's murder.
