General Request Around Twitter

Just FYI you may not have heard but Twitter is blocking people without accounts from viewing it's site and is heavily limiting the traffic for both paying and non paying users.

Given that I (and I assume others) would appreciate not posting direct links to twitter but maybe like a picture of the tweet or something.

I get it's a hassle but from my perspective I (and probably others) won't know what you're talking about as I don't have and don't want an account

You must have heard that on the ABC or The Guardian, so unsurprisingly that it is incorrect. Traffic on Twitter has significantly increased since the new ownership took over, in sharp contrast to contemporaries like FB and IG which are well down in the same period. Not sure why but Musk appears to be on the nose with the authoritarian/big govt overreach crowd - he was flavour of the month with the very same crowd not so long ago.

In fairness to all the social media platform owners, it must be incredibly complex to manage all elements of operation - it's way out of my pay scale and abilities.

And I'm not sure how well the claim of more 'traffic' holds up but active users are about the same and expected to drop (especially as more weird blue check mark users get boosted visibility) but his competitors seem to have gotten a big boost from this

I have nuked my twitter account in recent days and I am happier for it. It's become unusable, spam laden and a waste of time.

I used to like it's succinct ability to snatch the information you're looking for without having to constantly scroll past ads, sexbots, and the opinions of people who I don't follow (and who more often than not should be fired into the sun).

@sedat I don't know if you use it or not but Leon Husk, the free speech absolutist, certainly like to control, restrict and limit what people can do or say.

It's been circling the drain for a while now, hopefully it'll flush soon.

Not sure CNBC is a particularly strong example of a trusted or accurate source of news - then again, I'm not sure if there are any news outlets that can be trusted. All of them seem to follow a specific narrative to suit whatever target demographic they are catering to, at the expense of objectivity and fact.

If something comes up of interest relevant to the Dogs (I'm an intermittent user of Twitter at best), I'll post a pic

I despise anyone/group who impose their will on people who just want to be left the hell alone and mind their own business - IMO authoritarians are gross.

I actually couldn't tell you. I only use Instagram every few weeks or so and I don't have a Facebook account.

Twitter has one every 5 posts now.
They have their uses however they are limited.

Not sure if you folk are across the reddit saga.

The decision makers decided to monetise their api (which actually makes sense) which has destroyed a heap of third party apps who can't afford to pay the price.
Reddit moderators (people who run the subs for free) protested and went dark ergo they restricted access to their sub reddits.

Its been tit for tat every since.

Spez the ceo has said he's going to ban mods, the mods started allowing nsfw content to really blow it up (it became porn hub basically for a while) and it's getting to the point where most of the moderators who have been there since day dot are being forcibly removed.
Its so interesting to watch it implode.
