I won't buy one. For me, I have a laptop where I do all my media/online work, plus i download movies, football games, etc etc, watch online football and other sports. Any system that locks me down like the ipad does won't suit me. I've got an iPhone and love it. Apple make good kit, but I can't for a second see the ipad being as big or popular as the iPhone or iPod.
The ipad is trying to create a need, where as the other two have been more about doing something that's already done, but much better.
Having said that, my wife will probably want one in a year or so cause she follows trends.
I'm interested to know if other WOOFers will buy one when they're available in Aus?
What does it actually do apart from being able to read books, mags etc?
The iPod is great, not too small, nice & solid, holds all your music, photo's, video's etc, and i also use it on my laptop which is plugged into my hi fi, but music is something you like to keep, I'm not to sure i see a point in actually keeping online mags, newspaper articles, plus i like reading real magazines & newspapers [which also double as doggy poo scooper's at home].
I'm not a fan of devises getting smaller and smaller, a bit like mobile phones, the old style brick was a shocker, but some mobiles are just way too small for my liking, and i wouldn't want a lap top or computer any smaller than the size of a lap top.

Not me. But I don't have an iPhone either - my BlackBerry does me just nicely thanks. I do have an iPod but use windows on my laptop (though my missus uses a MacBook).
I get the idea of integrating functions and carrying less devices - I do. But my iPod has 120Gb of storage which is barely enough (I own a lot of music) and no iPhone can do this...and given the BlackBerry's email client is easier/better/faster than the iPhone and I can't replace my iPod with an iPhone due to capacity issues...
I am a believer in the iPad but to me it is really a netbook competitor (bought my 11 yo a BenQ one for christmas - does everything she needs and runs office quite happily) and not a true laptop/notebook competitor. And given Apple make it just double the cost of the current netbooks (less than AUD$400 with 2 year warranty) you have to wonder what the market will be like?
I’ve been thinking about Flash non-compatibility on the iPad, and I actually don’t think it’s such a big deal. Web publishers are already moving away from Flash and are starting to design websites for use on the iPhone OS – every iPhone sold means Adobe’s grip on online video content loosens just a little bit. Within 3-4 years, most websites will feature a Flash alternative for use on Apple’s mobile devices. As is eloquently put in this article: Developers go where the users are.
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.
Just a bit of Help would be appreciated . How do I get into podcasting anything on SEN on my I phone? What is the deal with jailbreak? Non tech heads would love to know
Much appreciated
Jail break is like 'chipping' a gaming console. You can get everything (in this case apps) for free. But will void any warranty and has a high risk of getting virus or stuffing up the phone in general. Podcasts, just go to iTunes and search SEN or the likes and should find it. If not on there, might just have to go to the SEN website download the podcast and transfer it to your device.
I'll recommend a great app ive found which streams Australian AM/FM radio - about time aswell. Its called TuneIn radio and is only $2.50. Includes a recording feature and well worth the price come footy time to have Triple M, 3AW & SEN goin!
Saw that app yesterday. Have you tried it? How well does it stream using 3G?
Used it for about 15mins the other day, streamed FoxFM and had no buffering issues whatsoever..not sure how this will go long term but good signs right now.
Only problem is when you are at Ethihad Stadium you struggle to get a signal so I don't know how the app will work when there are 50,000 people in the stadium... should be ok against Freo haha.

Hope it works because it is a great app!
Yeah good point..3G coverage is minimal in ES..struggled last year to get live scores updating. It will be good for pre & post game

SEN isn't available though iTunes. You have to go from the website IIRC.
