    Best/Worst Cover

Best: lennon's stand by me - Buckleys Hallelujah.

Guilty pleasure: Mike Tysons one night in Bangkok

Worst: Pink covering I touch myself. Worst cover ever , should be shot for ruining it for Aussie men. I'm disgusted just mentioning it.
Rocket Science: the epitaph for the Beveridge era - whenever it ends - reading 'Here lies a team that could beat anyone on its day, but seldom did when it mattered most'. 15/7/2023

      Great thread!

Have to give it some more thought. However I'll nominate for worst cover... Madonna's abysmal "American Pie"

Best: Brian May singing "Love of my life" and dedicating it to Freddie's Mum, who's at the concert. Moving stuff, and the crowd. Oh my god.

Plus he's a rocket scientist. I love Queen.

I have a soft spot for "Whiskey in the jar" by Metallica. WARNING: This clip may be NSFW.

Worst: where to start? I've put Celine Dion and Anastacia in the "worst compilations thread", so I can't use it again (otherwise I would), so I'll settle for this, WARNING: DOUCHEBAGS AHEAD:

        "It's over. It's all over."

Another "best"... Jimi Hendrix, "All Along The Watchtower"... released just six months after the original, Jimi took the sparse song and put it in another world. Dylan took to performing it similar to Jimis version.

I like covers that give an original song a completely different transformation, as opposed to being a facsimile version of the original. A couple of favourites:

Bad Moon Rising - The Reels
            (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction - Devo
"Look at me mate. Look at me. I'm flyin'"

              Sarah Blasko - Flame Trees
Would have to be the worst cover ever done(of a pretty bad song in the first place). Drives me mad.

War Pigs - Faith No More
Would have to be close to my first

But Nirvana's MTV Unplugged in New York with Kurt's versions of Jesus Doesn't Want Me for a Sunbeam, The Man Who Sold the World, Plateau, Oh, me, Lake of fire and Where did you sleep last night would be absolutely unbeatable IMO. Best group of covers on one album ever.

                Favourite's -
Gary Moore - Friday on my mind.
Metallica's - Whiskey in the jar
Manfred Man - Blinded by the light
Jeff Buckley or KD Lang - Hallelujah
Eric Clapton - I shot the Sheriff
                Faith No More - Easy
Michael Bolton - Dock of the Bay
Counting Crows - Big Yellow Taxi
Chocolate Starfish - Your so vain
For a bit of fun- Ralph Harris - Stairway to Heaven

                Worst -
Jose Feliciano - Light my fire
                Britney Spears - Satisfaction
                ToTo - Stairway to Heaven
                Hilary Duff - My Generation
                Madonna - American Pie
                Britney Spears - Satisfaction

Seems to be a theme with Pop Princesses covering classic that just makes me cringe.

Yeah, man who sold the world is a brilliant cover. Bowie is reported as saying its a better version than his original.

                    Flame Trees? It's a classic.

Cobain did a good job, but didn't better the original blues/traditional songs IMO. The Bowie song was very good.

Great call. I only realised a few months ago that it was a cover. Great clip too.
