Pete Shelley wrote Ever Fallen In Love. It's a Buzzcocks ( no 'The'-it's just Buzzcocks) original. It's a line of dialogue from the movie Guys and Dolls. The band saw the movie while sitting around a guesthouse while touring Scotland. Pete Shelley liked the line and wrote the lyrics waiting for Steve Diggle to come out of a shop the next day.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

You are right. For some reason I always thought that it was a cover version. Not sure why though. My bad. Thanks for picking that up.

No problems. I've been known to be a little bit obsessive about Buzzcocks-personally I think they are the greatest English band ever. Or maybe Ian Dury and the Blockheads. Or the Housemartins. It changes a lot.

The Smiths. No wait-The Damned. Or maybe...

....add to that the Clash or the Stranglers, Wire, Gang of Four....however the Buzzcocks are close to the top of the list. British music circa mid '70's to early '80's was damn fine.

The Jam, Cure, Madness, The Specials, The Sex Pistols, Joy Division, The Undertones, Siouxie and The Banshees, Elvis Costello and the Attractions. I could name another 25 bands without breaking a sweat.

Let's not get pedantic about the use of the word "the". If I was referring to the band as "The Buzzcocks" I would have used a capital T (as per my mistake in my earlier post), however as per definition below "the" can be used when associating it with a proper noun.

              - (used to mark a proper noun, natural phenomenon, ship, building, time, point of the compass, branch of endeavor, or field of study as something well-known or unique): the sun; the Alps; the Queen Elizabeth; the past; the West.

While youse guys are arguing & agreeing, (the) Buzzcocks were announced on the Dig It Up festival on Anzac Day as were Flamin Groovies & Blue Oyster Cult

So 'the' in this context is a proper noun?

I genuinly didnt know that but now that the distinction between the pronoun 'T' and the other 't' but now that you mention it, it makes sense.

Well there certainly wouldn't have been an Elastica if these two bands didn't exist

Check his cover of such great heights that he did for the J's, pretty awesome.

I heard some young Aussie band while I was radio jumping on MMM, callously and willfully slaughtering The Divinyls 'All the boys in town', to 'all the girls in town'. I had to turn it off after a minute. Could be the worst cover. Ever.
