My son really liked the full length Thomas the Tank Engine Feature, Mystery Island Rescue.

Most of Hayao Miyazaki's catalogue, especially Spirited Away.

My kids were big on Totoro for awhile, haven't watched it for a bit though.

I hate the explosion of kids animated flicks that has taken place in the post Toy Story era - all of them are vehicles to raise the profile of the voice actors, and most of them are torturous to sit through (and as a father of 3 I've seen my fair share of garbage animated films). By far the most enjoyable film in the genre that I've seen is Rango, and I suspect only because it was so heavily influenced by Hunter S Thompson and Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas.

Disney are like the Anti Christ as far as I'm concerned - they buy their cache and credibility (whether it is Pixar, Marvel or Star Wars) that is otherwise non-existent in their pathetic little world. They are as cynical and contrived as any other major global corporation.

Lion King ... easily my favourite

I can recite that movie off by heart, due to my little sister's obsession with it. It drives me bonkers now as a result.

It's only a made for TV movie, but I love Race For Your Life Charlie Brown. Just good ol' fashioned Peanuts fun.

I watched it again with my 10 year old the other week and I still love it too, definitely the best kids movie of the 80's.

Did your kid enjoy it? I hope that when my daughter is older she will enjoy some of the same movies that I liked as a kid because at least that will mean less current/future crap that I will have to endure!

Me too! Loved it when it came out, saw it twice at the movies, had a huge crush on Mikey.

It was the first movie I bought on dvd.
