      Re: True Detective

The series benefits from having a single writer and director team. The narrative is given room to breathe.

Ep 2 was a slower burn than the first but I'm loving the nihilistic streak. When Cohle was talking about his daughter's death being like a blessing, I turned to my better half and said 'damn, this is bleak and I love it!'.

And I must say, the eye candy was immense.
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

Really liked the follow up episode. There were some real stand out moments. I don't want to post any spoilers but Woody Harrelson sitting in the car sniffing his fingers while McConaughy goes back to ask for directions had me giggling for ages.

It went longer than the pilot too. Almost 15 minutes.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Honestly, I can do without it.

I know how preposterous that sounds, but there you go. I've made a similar comment about Game of Thrones and I feel the same here also. It's a very, very strongly written, directed and acted show and just doesn't need it.

That being said, it was... remarkable.

At least the it had context in the scene and established a strong element of Hart's character.

But like EW I could have done without out it. Probably. I'll have to watch it a couple more times to make my mind up.

Eh I can still do without it.

Also, something I meant to say earlier: the music is awesome.

                  Is it all T-Bone Burnett?

Another great episode. Don't ever mow Woody Harrelson's lawn!

Because of Super Bowl, the next episode airs in two weeks.

Very good episode. I'm layed up with a bad back so I'm watching all 3 eps back to back.
