Any chance a swifty will be pulled and Marty has something to do with all the murders, i.e. he is the Yellow King.

He has shown violent tendencies throughout and his execution of Reggie was a little too convenient. Perhaps he killed him to cover his own ass. Plus his daughter definitely has a history with the cult; the drawings and the dolls when she was a little girl, and now she's gone off the rails.

I'm half expecting a Usual Suspects ending with Marty playing the Keyser Sose/Kevin Spacey role.

I'm starting to think that Marty might be pulling all the levers. Rust doesn't really have any questions for the investigators whilst Marty is full of them and he was fairly eager (and disappointed) to see what they had on Cohle.

Excellent episode.

I had a half thought that maybe it was Marty all along, especially when they had the pic of Rust at the new crime scene and said he'd been seen five times - like he's doing a civvy investigation. But now, I dunno. I don't think either of them are involved. It's been such a tight, clever show that something as simple as either of them doing it seems too cheap.

Of course, I have no other ideas.

I just noticed that Cohle uses a concept from The Third Detective in his discussion with the two investigators. Ths show ges better and better.

Another cracking episode as we get near the end of this dark saga.

Maggie using Rust like that was cold, dammit. Good to see her character get some meat on the bones, though. The Marty/Rust parking lot brawl was very realistic and I liked the shot at the end of Rust's beat up ute. The tail light is still broken after 10 years.

What was Marty thinking getting caught up with the former child-hooker? Hasn't he had enough 'crazy pussy'? Is she some sort of Yellow King honeypot that will lead him down a path of darkness? She certainly knew all the right words to say to manipulate him.

The promo for next week was revealing. Rust shows Marty something that makes him lose it. I'm guessing it's evidence that Marty's daughter has been exposed to the cult. Does this mean Marty isn't involved?

I like it a lot, but I can't help think that it reminds me of the guys who keep popping up in "There's Something About Mary".

Yep, it's all coming to a head now.

Great performance from Woody in this episode. The scene where he says thank you to his ex wife was poignant and I loved his reaction when watching the videotape.

Anyone want to guess what happens next week? When Rust said it's time to close things off and move on to the next thing, I think he may have foreshadowed his death there. I expect him to get taken out.

Finally caught up on the last 4 episodes, I've been staring at this unopened thread for a month!!

Jeez this is some seriously great tv. I can't work out who the better actor is, just when I think it's Matt, Woody rips out some magic, and vice versa. I think they're setting a new level of TV and TV acting. I'm hoping for an amazing ending, some series go mushy (West Wing) and others artistic (Sopranos). I want to be shocked senseless.

Series finale downloading right now. I'm gonna miss my Monday dose of Matt and Woody.

Can't wait to watch it tonight.
