Heard a FOTL song this morning that says "Colin is a pussy, a very pretty pussy"Comment

Re: Favourite Musical Artist or Band
The FOTL song is called "Manchasm". The second half is about his cat missing him while he's on tour and wishing the end of his career (essentially). By the way way apart from being a very pretty pussy, Colin is also a "wide-eyed, wanton, hopped up, hole of hale and hate".
Andy Falkous the lyricist uses words like weapons with a brilliant delivery.
Can you tell I spend too much time with listening to this shit.Park that car

Re: Favourite Musical Artist or Band
One of my proudest moments as a dad was when my 8 y.o. son played Gymnopedie no 1 complete at a school concert in front of roughly 300 people.
I love Pink Floyd, and like most of the super groups Beatles, Led Zep, Stones, U2, Police (pre - Zenyatta) Midnight Oil. Currently into Red Hot Chili Peppers in a big way.
Also a big fan of Ricki Lee Jones, George Benson, early Vince Jones,
Was once a big fan of those Euro electronic acts of the 70's ie Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream, Jean Michel Jarre,Listening to Brahm's 3rd RacketComment

Re: Favourite Musical Artist or Band
A is for Arab Strap (though I nearly said Arcade Fire, and would once have said Ammonia, and even before them the Afghan Wigs).
B is for Broken Social Scene (or maybe The Beta Band? Or Belle and Sebastian?)
C is for Nick Cave (but I give Clap Your Hands Say Yeah honorable mention).
D is for Dinosaur Jr (but I love the Deftones, and the Delgados, and the Drive-by Truckers)
E is for Elliot Smith (but I have seen some great shows by Even, and saw the Eels in the UK last year and have all their albums too).
F is for Faith No More.
G is for The Go-Betweens (that is too dead song-writers already!)
H is for the Hold Steady (my favorite band at the moment).
I is for Iggy Pop.
J is for The Jam (though I am a bit sorry to see them back together again).
K is for Kings of Leon.
L is for Lou Reed.
M is for Metallica (even if just for the unintentional comedy of 'Some Kind of Monster')
N is for Nirvana (though Nice Inch Nails are very, very good).
O is for no-one I can think of.
P is for PJ Harvey. (The Pretenders (first record) and the Pixies. And Pavement.)
Q is for Queens of the Stone Age (I guess.)
R is for The Rolling Stones. (And Rancid. And REM. And RATM. And the Ramones. And Radiohead).
S is for The Smiths. (Sufjan Stevens, The Shins, The Strokes).
T is for Talking Heads. (The The. TV on the Radio).
U is for Urge Overkill.
V is for Violent Femmes. (and of course the Velvet Underground).
W is for The White Stripes. (And Wolf Parade. And WPA for my missus!)
X, Y and Z are for no-one I can think of.What should I tell her? She's going to ask.Comment

Re: Favourite Musical Artist or Band
Great list Mjp.
Except there is something about Belle & Sebastian that makes me want to punch something. Don't like that sort of soft, little boy style singing.
Even is a a very under rated band. 100x better than Eskimo Joe but don't get half the promotion or airplay.
Faith No More were excellent. The The was great.Comment

Re: Favourite Musical Artist or Band
Oasis is my favourite band.
And randomly, it was Rob Murphy that got me onto them!
Looking at the player Q&A a few years ago (on the website) and Murph said Oasis was his favourite, and they sounded familiar so I downloaded a few tracks and now Im obsessed with them.
Thanks Murph!!Comment
