Still, I think as he looks back on his career he'll probably rue a lot of missed opportunities, but he should be proud of his record of protecting his wicket and doing his job.

Others will remember the glorious centuries they scored, and forget the times they completely disrespected their wicket.
He's done a good job, but he's scratching to average 40 in Test cricket in an era of flat tracks and ordinary bowling. The reality is he's at his limit just to hang in at this level. The fact that he recognises it and plays his role means I'd pick him 100 times out of 100 over a more talented but less disciplined player like S Marsh.

Scratching to 40 and not capitalising on starts hurts your average over a short test career. One or two more conversions to hundreds outside the obvious misses and maybe one or two not outs and his average would be a lot better.

But I agree, I'd take him on any day of the week as a bat that respects his talent and his place in test cricket over a lot of others we have.
      TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

Good to see Smith back in form with a ton, that one test he missed out felt like an eternity

Super happy for Rogers. Gets on the honour board, and does the job for us.

            Great ton.

Re: Second Ashes Test - Lords

I love how the commentators are talking about the toss having too much to do with the results of Ashes games, as if that's a new thing.

No shit, the toss has pretty much dominated all test matches for twenty years.

Runs flowing easily now. The dam walls are starting to break.

                    Great 100 Rogers.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Chris Rogers is only the second Australian batsman to score over 1000 Ashes runs after age 35...the other is the Don

He also has the most first class centuries by an Australian at Lords with 8 now.
