    England limited overs tour

Squad was named a few days back, a few new faces who will debut:

Steven Smith (capt), Ashton Agar, George Bailey, Joe Burns, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Pat Cummins, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Marsh, James Pattinson, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Wade (wk), Shane Watson, David Warner

In: Ashton Agar, Joe Burns, Nathan Coulter-Nile, James Pattinson, Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Wade

Out: Michael Clarke, Xavier Doherty, James Faulkner, Aaron Finch, Brad Haddin, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Johnson

I like the youthful look, it's time to start bedding guys like Burns and Agar in for international exposure. Khawaja is the one who I thought should have been in the first handful selected. He's been the best domestic one day cricketer of the past 2 seasons and if he's to make a test return why wouldn't we see how he handles international class bowlers in English conditions? I'd have had Usman in for Watson.

Pretty sure he is still recovering from a serious injury.

I wonder if Khawaja's omission is due to the selectors pencilling him in for the Test team against the Bangers and then the summer.

Given he's just captained the A team on a fairly substantial tour and has been a bit injury prone, maybe he's being given a freshen.

On paper Mitch Marsh coming in at number 8 tonight after Matthew Wade. We have certainly loaded up with batsman.

The sole T20 game is played tonight, the Ashes winning women are on first so definitely worth a look.

Australian XI: Shane Watson, David Warner, Steve Smith (c), Glenn Maxwell, Mitch Marsh, Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Wade, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Pat Cummins, Mitch Starc, Cameron Boyce.

Boofa doesn't rate him as a test player but I think he would normally be in the mix for limited over games. He is still suspended isn't he?

I think Watson is pretty much a specialist batsman at T20 level but agree that all of Maxwell, Marsh and Stoinis is overkill. Stoinis is definitely not being picked on limited overs form considering he's only played nine 20/20s, averages 13 and strikes at 123.

It's just another inconsistent selection seeing as Lynn has already played T20 internationally with good success and has played in just about every domestic T20 competition there is around the world recently.

This is meant to be a dress rehearsal with the World Cup not far off in Bangladesh but it looks more like the side the selectors could put together without blowing the budget and flying T20 specialists in

The idea of Stoinis as an international quality bowler is quickly being dismissed here. I've made comparisons with the bowling of Jesse Ryder in the past.... Michael Hussey may be a closer comparison

If that is the case then he has somehow conned many cricket scribes and the team is better balanced than I originally thought.
Is his batting good enough in the limited over games?

Michael Hussey in talking purely about his bowling. It's 120 kph wobblers. He hasn't made limited overs runs so it's a strange decision, no reason he wouldn't be though
