    Re: Matador Cup 2015/16

Starc has 15 of his 20 wickets via either bowled or LBW. That's huge.

Vics are throwing their wickets away given they have 18 overs to bat out and are already 6 wickets down.
We need Hastings and Wade to get to 50 each just to make a game of it.

Maxwell really can annoy. Victoria were reasonably positioned and he decides to slog Lyon's first delivery to him. How many dumb failures equal a good looking 60-70?

Maxwell at 4 is a risk to me. He has the shots just not the application. Handscomb was more likely to build a team team type innings and I would have tried him there instead of Maxwell.

He is a sensational fielder, a handy bowler and when on song a devastating batsman. I'd be batting him at 6 though and move him up the order when necessary.

        Hasn't Finch been a disappointment.

Wade needs to bat up the order. I agree with Stoinis being dropped but Christian at 7 isn't great either.

        Hastings batted for 24 deliveries but only scored from 3 shots. 2 x 6's and 1 x 4.

Finch looks a mile off for sure. I'd like to see Wade become a specialist batsman, I really rate his ability and his runs at test level were pretty good. McCullum, Sanga, Stewart all benefitted their batting when leaving the keeping gloves behind (not saying he's at that level). But I'd like to see what his batting would be like if it was his sole focus.

Interesting suggestion re Wade. He's got the 'keeping' job in the limited forms of the game so he would need to believe his best chance of playing test cricket would be as a batsman.

You would have to think he would perform better with the bat if he wasn't standing behind the stumps every game.

I don't really rate him but that's more about his personality than his performances.

Vic's an outside chance to win this one. 6 wickets, all LBW

I wonder if this is a record, or if it's not, can it make one all LBW.

Is Watson now NSW batting coach, with all those LBW?
More of an In Bruges guy?

Could be. He looked like he wanted to review it too. Which of it was available would've shown the ball hitting middle 3/4 the way up... Ah Watto...

Had the Vic's batted out the full 50 overs the extra 15 runs would be very handy now.

                              Indeed.

I'd like to see how Wade would go without the gloves. I'd like to see him build an innings from 4 or 5 rather than scratching around always looking for the single inventing shots to get quick runs type innings he seems to have to play batting at 7.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

In this form of the game, it doesn't really matter if he has the gloves or not. What I think BT is saying is he would like to see if his batting world improve in the 4 day game without the burden of standing behind the stumps with the view of potentially playing as a batsman in test cricket.

In this form of the game he should bat as an opener or at 4.
