25 wickets in well under 2 days play. Nearly unplayable bowling at night. 3 dropped catches tonight so far. Players saying can't read spinners and fielders saying struggling to catch them.

Anyone game enough to have a counter argument to all the machines making more money irrespective of the game of sport being better for the change I wonder?
Could be an interesting night session this evening. NZ look like they'll set us 150-200ish. Evening session could be highly dramatic.

I didn't think our bowling last night was anything special, good bowling bordering on a bit better but the Kiwi's just didn't apply themselves to the task correctly. Latham gave away his wicket and Taylor despite coming off a career inning in the previous test was batting on or outside of off stump and got trapped LBW while trying to maintain a run a ball scoring rate.

Test batsman too often don't want to build innings on a challenging track or conditions that don't suit them.

Totally agree. Particularly with our best bowler out for the innings injured (and other spearhead gone this match through retirement), you'd have thought the Kiwis would be thinking of surviving spells and stretching us as much as possible.

In baseball when teams encounter terrific pitchers the managers will often instruct the batters to be patient and take a number of pitches knowing that he will eventually be replaced.
With a strike bowler down and plenty of time in the game I would have thought the Kiwi's innings would have been built on patience. We bowled well but the Kiwi's contributed to their own demise.

Perhaps they were still distracted by that DRS non decision.

Baseball it's called working the count, where a pitcher might be on a pitch count then the relief pitcher us brought in.
There is just no patience at the crease now, players seem to want to score off every ball.

Santner in his 1st Test is showing a level of application some of his higher rated teammates could learn from. Hopefully for NZ it's not a case of bad habits yet to be passed on.

I was worried our batsman wouldn't try and knock the runs off tonight. Good to see them going close to a run a ball although we have just lost a wicket.

Good innings from Shaun Marsh, bad luck he didn't get his 50

Grand stand finish. Albeit two days early.

Is Neville putting too much value on his wicket in this side? Concerning trend and not one the crowd and the selectors will embrace.

Yep, he needs to throw the bat or move aside. Good technique, values his wicket, does the basics well, there's no place for a player like him. Maybe we would throw the gloves to whoever does well this Big Bash?

On the proviso that he is in a good head space. I think that is a Rod Marsh non negotiable otherwise that sounds like a plan.
