Our entire top order is producing some insane numbers, with Smith undoubtedly the leader. The top 5 currently average; Warner 50.4, Burns 49.5, Khawaja 49.3, Smith 59.8, Voges 97.4. A few of these will undoubtedly drop over time, but amazing results at present.

Thanks. Typed Khawaja twice by mistake. Duly edited.

Gotta be happy with that. Imagine if we weren't wasting number 6 with an all rounder whose made bugger all runs. We can't rely on these numbers being permanent. The tail is decent too Neville 28, Starc 27, Pattinson 30, Hazlewood 23 & Lyon 15.

Also the team missed some easy shots at big scores in the cancelled Banglasdesh tour, but still, here's the top orders best two scores, and the tails best score with the bat over the last nine months:

            Voges: 269*, 236.
            Warner: 253, 163.
            Smith: 215, 199.
            Khawaja: 174, 144.
            Burns: 170, 129.
            S. Marsh: 182, 73

            Neville: 66
            Starc: 58
            Hazlewood: 39
            Lyon: 34
            Mitch Marsh: 34

A couple of wickets late in the day evens it up a bit.

A nightwatchman is sent in to protect Mitch Marsh at 4/357?

Nah. Their top scores recently are both 34. Lyon has equal enough claim to come in at 6...

We certainly need a couple of decent scores from Voges, Marsh or Neville if we are to build a good lead.

It's only the end of day two so a result is very likely

Very good from Steve Smith, and particularly after being sconed .
Should be looking at a lead of 150.

Correct you were BT. Lyon > Marsh.

NZ having a good day so far, cleaning up the tail and reducing the deficit to 80 odd with 9 wickets in hand. Could be a good finish coming up over the next couple of days.

Pattinson fast and menacing here. His record vs Hazlewood now:

                                JP: 17th match, 69 wkts @ 25.7
                                JH: 17th match, 69 wkts @ 25.1

                                Amazing.
